Have you crate trained this puppy?
Are you going outside with him, everytime?

The rule is, he doesnt get to come inside until he potties, this could take a while especially if he used to playing instead of pottying. Put him on his leash take him outside, and dont play with him. As soon as he potties, praise and play with him, then go back inside.

If you can not get him to go potty, put him in his crate, wait 10-15 min and repeat. No free time in the house UNLESS he potties first.

This method worked for both of my dogs. My Great Dane was 100% potty trained at 9wks old (this is an exception, I rescued him when he was 3wks, but didnt start housetraining until 5-6)

Just make him stay outside until he does even if i means all night. It will not hurt him none as dogs where made for the outdoors even the small ones.

Personally, I don't think that's a good idea because you are not seeing if he's going potty or not. I think he should be taken out with the leash and no play time until he does, as was suggested.

I agree. If you just throw him out, you are not training him. You are not there to praise him when he does potty. He needs to go out on a leash, go potty, get praised, play, and come back in the house.
