| Re: aussie shepherd cont'd. Well I own 3 aussies so know a bit about the breed. Aussies can be destructive and aren't the right dogs for everyone. They are needy. They need attention, the need to always be LEARNING. They are very smart dogs so if you don't keep their minds doing something productive then they get destructive. One of our aussies was bad with people and bikers when we first got her. I had to take her out EVERY SINGLE DAY and introduce her to everyone and everything, she has now overcome this fear. All of our aussies have gone to training classes. I highly highly highly recommend this for aussies, they love to learn. The aussie your talking about sounds very submissive, doesn't respond well to anyone yelling. She/he needs a gentle handler so that he/she can be more confident.
7am-3pm is a long time to leave any dog unattended, especially a destructive one... A basement would work find but that time frame may be too long. If there is no other way then you should get a crate or a cage and keep the dog there instead of running loose |
