Me and Maggie went to our Aunts house yesterday to start training ( they have nice open field ). MY aunts dog is very well trained and knows a lot of the commands. So i was giving her treats and Maggie saw what she was doing. So Maggie picked up all the tricks as well. She got sit, lay down, gimme your paw, and speak in the first day.

If your dog can handle being around a mastiff, shepherd, and half lab/shepherd. All gentle giants

Rescue say Half lab/Shepherd. I say half golden retriever/shepherd.

Just one more reason to wait to bring a puppy into the home until the older dog is trained. I always wait until my older dog is at least 18 months old and confirmed in commands. Then when I bring a puppy in, training is a breeze because the puppy sees the older dog and learns so much quicker. Sometimes I think it's the 'anything you can do I can do better' theory. Or 'hey, you got a treat I want one too' theory. Whatever it is, it makes training so much easier.

Yeah Maggie! You must be very proud of her. She is cute! I see the Shepherd, could there be any collie? She has a very intense look in those pictures. She looks like a thinker. Good Job starting the training early. I bet you will always have to keep challenging her. It is amazing how much dogs can learn. I always laugh when people say dogs are dumb. I look at the person and say " The dog is learning our language and knows several commands, How much dog can you understand?"

All my relatives have very well trained dogs. When Mags saw Anna ( German Shepherd ) get all the treats for what she was doing, she was very jealous so she did the same and now knows all of the tricks very well
