adopting two male cairn terriers puppies

In a couple of weeks we will have our two new puppies and would be very interested in some input. We had one cairn previously but got her as an adult. She was wonderful. We're not sure how to handle the new puppies' eating, sleeping, and daily activities. We wanted two dogs as we both work and want them to have each other while we're gone for the day (but we will be around for their first few weeks). Should they eat separately? Some books we've read suggested having separate sleeping areas and doing so many things separately. That would seem to defeat the purpose of getting two dogs. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I will say from past experience its harder to train two then one, I have made it a rule in my house one pup at a time due to this. A good book to read is The Art Of Raising A Puppy by The Monks of New Skete.

I agree with Jen D That is a good book. I think you are really going to have your hands full. It seems good in theory to have 2 pups, but then.... What do they need you for, they have each other. It will keep you on your toes trying to train them both. I hope you have a few people in the house wanting to train. I would get them into some obedience classes right away. I think dogs should be fed separately, but that is me. I just don't want to take a chance of food aggression issues. I always take in rescues with questionable back grounds so I don't take chances. Plus I wouldn't want to eat off of anyone Else's plate either. ha ha
