tracking collar

Please recommend a small tracking collar with a hand held receiver. My dog is not a gun dog, but rather a pet, who chases deer. I often lose him in the woods. I would like to be able to track him, up to several miles, rather than always depend on someone finding him and calling me. Sometimes he is near by, but I just can't see him, so knowing he was close, I could wait for him. Thanks.

Re: tracking collar

I have checked some websites and this one is so far looks pretty good. You don't need to pay a monthly service fee to see the whereabouts of the gps device. It runs off cellular towers, and you need a laptop or computer to see the map. You should be able to find other items like this that can help you, or you can train your dog not to take off and disappear.

Here is what I found

Also because you are so close to the woods you may want to consider a orange hunting dog vest/collar. And if you can a fenced in area to get him used to being called off-leash. An other recommendations is this, make sure he knows were home is. When my beagle got lose my mom wined thinking Choca would not come back, after 4hrs of being out on the run she nudges the door open walks in with her head down whimpering.
