Steam cleaners, etc

Hi guys,

Having 3 mammals and one sick vomiting cat that sometimes has an accident, it takes a toll on the carpet. I usually did a good job cleaning spots up but I'm noticing there's a lot of small faded stains around.

I'm wondering if carpet cleaning services are a good idea, or if I should get something to clean the carpets myself.

I'm told steam cleaners are the best, any input? Or is it better to have regular carpet cleanings? Or should I buy a stream cleaner and do it myself? Or get it professionally cleaned then maintain it myself with a steam cleaner?

If I should do it myself (I'd rather do it myself if its cheaper and I can do just as good of a job) then what brand is good? I'd rather one that doesn't break easily.

Thanks!

I have the top of the line Hoover. It is super! Now with Abby having problems with potty training I will get my carpet professionaly cleaned this summer. If you need a spot remover I have used the Little Green Giant with great luck. I would still be using it if my ex wasn't a..... well you know what i mean.

I get my carpets professionally done 2 times a year and I have never been happier with my house. I will never again scrub my own carpets for days and days only to end up with a hurting back! To clean two big rooms and the hallway is not even $100 bucks (here in PA) ...SOOOO worth it to me!! And it cleans all the way down, not just the surface! The difference in doing it yourself is huge- and I have a great Bissell upright scrubber.
I waited until Otis was totally housetrained and had them done and I only have to clean up spots from my 3 year old spilling juice...sorry- I don't have any vomiting kitties!

I have a 3000 sq ft house, about 2000 of it carpeted. Probably going to be pretty expensive

I think I'll do professional cleaning the first time and see how much it improves. Thanks.

Hi- I bought a Bissell Steam cleaner and it has been the best investment ever-i couldn't live without it. When a mess occurs I can get the machine out and get rid of it. It has taken the stress out of owning dogs and having carpet!!!
