Busy Buddies!

As an alternative to his Kong, which Max likes, but only with peanut butter and he doesn't really play with it, just licks it, I got Max the Busy Buddy Twist-n-Treat. Success!!!

He loves it and it actually makes him move around some. OK, so he's not running around like a crazy man, but he noses it around the room and chews it and it keeps him busy trying to get the treats out. I love how it's very easy to clean and load up with treats. You can also start it out with a wide opening so it's really easy so your dog can learn how to use it rather than being frustrated from the beginning. All in all, a great toy and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants an interactive toy for their dog.

Anyone else have any Busy Buddy reviews?

Re: Busy Buddies!

Zoe likes hers...our biggest problem with it is that the one we got her is too small, it only holds about 1/4 cup of food and she eats one cup at every meal, so it's a pain in the butt to get up and refill it 3 times once she's gotten it all slobbery and dusty! But she likes it and it helps her to take a lot longer to eat (she inhales her food and will throw it all up if we don't force her to eat slower, either by using one of these or by dumping it into her bowl a bit at a time). She gets it stuck under furniture a lot, too, so we definitely have to be around to help her out if she can't get it!

I bought one for my dogs but it didn't last long. They destroyed it in about an hour. I wouldn't buy it again, my two chew way to strongly for this toy to hold up.

Re: Busy Buddies!

I bought one for my crew and it lasted a couple of weeks...at first they loved it and I almost bought a couple more, but then the Border Collie started biting of pieces of it, so I trashed it. I would give it to the shelties, they're not aggressive chewers, but not for Mr. Destructo.

Re: Busy Buddies!

I bought something almost identical to this for Honey and it worked pretty well. Spunky eats raw, so she can't eat her meals out of it, but she still loves to roll it around and chase it (so much so that she ripped a huge hole in it, so it's unusable now).

One thing I wanted to add is that if your dog isn't interested in the toy at first, it helps to spread some plain yoghurt or banana or peanut butter on it, and freeze it. That way the dog is immediately rewarded for just licking it or engaging with it in any way. Eventually, with all that nosing around to get that yoghurt off, some kibble will fall out and the dog tends to get the general idea from there.

Not for aggressive chewers though.
