Is this a good dog blanket?

Since Snoopy's hair is short he has been shivering in the morning since he is cold. So I was going to get him a coat to keep him warm. Do you think this would be a good one and how would I know which size I'd need?

Re: Is this a good dog blanket?

I dunno if it's a good coat, but you size it according to the information right under the order chart:

"Important Information:
Sizes: X-Small 10"-12", Small 13"-16", Medium 17"-19", Large 20"-24", X-Large 25"-29" "

For dog clothes, that size usually refers to their chest girth, which you measure around the chest right behind the front legs, like this:

I couldn't find a diagram that looked like Scooby

Some coats measure around the neck too, but it looks like that one's adjustable, and Scooby doesn't have an unusually thick or thin neck for his size, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Also, saw this coat the other day...was considering it for Kim until I realized...she's not cold lol. I think you have to buy a minimum order $$ amount from that site, though (I think I saw ilovegreys saying something like that), and I don't know what that minimum is.

Re: Is this a good dog blanket?

Thanks for telling me how to measure him. I saw the sizes thing but I didn't know if it was refering to the height of the dog or what.

Re: Is this a good dog blanket?

You might want to place a call to their customer service line to check on the size thing. When I ordered mine, from a different company, they wanted me to measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail...body length. Just a thought.

I love Katie's Fido Fleece coat for her. She's a tiny shih-tzu and wears a size 12. I would say a 14 or 16 would be about right for Snoopy.

Durb from past experience I will say that I like the Velcro closures better then struggling with buckles. The coat from Petedge that Kim showed you might be the better bet.

Re: Is this a good dog blanket?

Velcro is easier than buckles, but can be tricky when his fur gets longer. I had to chase Beavis all over the house with the velcro on his coat stuck to his belly one day last winter. He wasn't too thrilled with that.

I've since decided, he really doesn't need a coat. If it's bad enough he needs a coat, we can stay home and he can potty in the yard.

FWIW, I got Beav's jacket at Old Navy. It's waterproof on top, and fleece lined, with reflective trim for walking at night. It's really nice, except that it's almost completely covered by his tail, so you barely even see it on him.

Re: Is this a good dog blanket?

Well what sucks is that I will only be using this coat till his hair grows back and then it will be collecting dust as I will be taking him to a groomer that has more than a 2 inch blade and can clip just a small amount off.

Wow. Old Navy really does have some seriously cute dog clothes. I haven't been in the store in a while. And the prices aren't too bad.

Snoopy would look so cute in the Argyle sweaters!
