Evacuation Kit

Hello all,

Ever since Hurricane Katrina, I have been planning for the worst, trying to create the best plan for my family. As a responsible pet owner, I researched evacuation with pets, as many people were forced to leave theirs behind during the hurricane. I ran across a local (Virginia) company called Wag'N Enterprises that offers such services. I ordered their "Woofn n pack leader" evacuation kit.
It includes 3 days worth of supplies for Butters, my yellows lab, as well as a compass, multi tool, and flashlight. It also features a full pet first aid kit, among other things. It wasnt cheap, but the quality of the supplies was outstanding. I believe everyone needs a kit like this one, if not from this manufacturer, at least prepare your own. You can check out their webpage at http://www.wagn4u.com

Re: Evacuation Kit

Since I usually have the dogs with me and I often take them different places to run and stretch their legs, I always carry a first aid kit in the car and it's come in handy several times for minor injuries.

Taking this one step further, I went and got a huge backpack. I filled it with not only the first aid kit, but additional items like extra hydrogen peroxide, boots, additional collars, extra leashes, their Hunter Orange blankets w/reflective tape, pictures and pretty much anything else I could think of. I always have an extra bag of food that could be grabbed if evacuation was necessary. I have quite a few 3 liter bottles of water that are rotated to keep them 'fresh'. All necessary medications are within easy access.

I always try to keep a full tank of gas in my vehicle.

I'm pretty sure I could grab all the pets and get out of Dodge safely if it ever came to that (I pray it never does).
