Re: What about the smell My dogs don't smell (2 Standard Poodles and 1 ShihTzu). I use EQyss grooming products, no air purifiers, but I do use OdoBan disinfectant to blast the rocked kennel area to get rid of excretment and urine. Smells fresh and clean, and kills bacteria and even the HIV virus (according to the manufacturer)!

Re: What about the smell My dogs maybe get bathed twice a year but to clean up the house I use baking soda and vinegar. does the trick for me. I add both to our laundry people and dogs as well.

Re: What about the smell Some breeds have a little more odor then others. Making sure your dog does not have problems with Anal glands or any other health issue would be a good place to start. Rottweilers tend to be real clean dogs rather odor free in comparison to my friends hounds for instance. When I bath my dogs I use Miracle Coat Shampoo and Lusterizer. I like the smell. It is not strong smelling and it just seems to keep them fresh. There is always deodorizers as well. Washing kennel blankets often is big also. If you keep there kennel fresh that will make huge difference. I like Vinegar and Baking soda too. No extra chemicals around the dogs if you can help it.

Re: What about the smell I own a steam cleaner for my carpets and do it once a week on all the carpets (and about once a month on all the furniture). I mop with a soap called method because it is a safer cleaner for the kids to be around (and for the pets to be around). I also use clorox or clorox 2 in every laundry load

| Re: What about the smell I keep my dogs bathed every couple of months (or as needed) and brushed daily. I wash their bedding every week in hot water and wipe out their kennels with a Clorox wet wipe. I have a fleece blanket placed on the only piece of furniture they are allowed on and that gets washed weekly as well.
Also, when we had the chance to choose a new breed around the house, my husband was vocal about not liking doggy smell (he's the cat person!) when we were making the selection. So we focused on single coated breeds and ended up with papillons. Although our pomeranian is a double coated breed she doesn't seem to have that doggy smell.
And I really noticed a difference in both the dogs and the cat, breath odor/body odor/even litter box smells with the cat...when we changed their diet. Because one of our dogs had allergies we switched to a raw diet for everyone, even the cat. What a difference in the litter box smell. I can walk in the laundry room and not have to remember that we have a cat every time. If we travel and they need to be on kibble the cat gets Wellness or Evo and the dogs get SG Barking at the Moon. |

Re: What about the smell My doggie is a dirty one. i bath him every 2 to 3 weeks. In between i wipe him down with baby wipes when he comes in the house. H always likes to lay righ in the dirt! And i don't by the doggie wipe cuz they are so expensive. So huggies babywipes works even better. I also spray fabreeze in the house and use arm& hammer pet deodorizer carpet powder when I vacuum. I thought my dog smelled until my sisters dog came and he stunk! haha, that was because he had a skin infection.

Re: What about the smell I am lucky in the way that my dogs never get that "doggy" smell, so my house stays stink free...wish i could say the same for HAIR! Anyway i do have a air cleaner in my bedroom, but that is just for the "white noise" i cannot sleep in complete silence so i run it in the backround. For the throw up that happens every once in a while, i always keep a bottle of Resolve on hand.

Re: What about the smell I don't think Maddie's too terribly smelly, but we use White Barn Candle Wallflowers throughout our house. We also bathe her once a month with Kiehl's Cuddly-Coat Shampoo and Kiehl's Cuddly-Coat Conditioning Rinse. About once a week we use Kiehl's Spray-N-Play Cleansing Spritz to keep her clean and smelling good between baths. I think it works. We don't smell her at least.

Re: What about the smell My shepherds are not that smelly, but my Dachshunds can be at times. Between baths I use a aromatherapy spritz on the dogs. I clean their beds about once a week. I only have one dog that has to be crated and I clean her crate when I clean the dog beds. I use fabreeze air freshener around the house.
