| What strange things has your dog eaten? Hopefully this thread will lead to a few laughs, but first I'd like to know if anyone has any idea why a dog, that has never shown any interest in chewing on non-doggy items, would suddenly decide to collect and chew on stray chunks of dry cement after a patio was poured? I'm feeling that she must be attracted to something in the cement, but since I don't really know that much about cement's ingredients, I don't know what that is. Are there any cement experts in the crowd? |

| Re: What strange things has your dog eaten? Can't say I know much about cement actually. Very odd!
Man I doubt I could list to you every weird thing Bridgette has eaten! LOL. She has eaten 2 tubes of chap stick which thankfully didn't make her sick! She did eat an entire Dove chocolate bar...wrapper and all...that DID make her (obviously) and she was none to happy to be given hydrogen peroxide to make her vomit it up...4 times! Yuck! of course she decided to eat this a short while after her spay surgery and when we didn't have a working car so we had to get directions from the vet to make her vomit because we couldn't get to the vet. She was fine, but quite unhappy about the whole ordeal! She got the chocolate out of a closed purse...don't ask me how she managed that one either! |

| Re: What strange things has your dog eaten? My 2 year old dog eats fabric softener sheets, used ones. He digs them out of the garbage. He has also eaten several small trees that I planted in the back yard and a dish cloth. I didn't even know he did that until it was painfully coming out in the back yard. You are probably thinking "why doesn't she watch her dog. I do. He is just a master at sneeky behavior. Thank God all is well with him so far. I had a friend who's dog ate a cell phone too. I thought that was pretty weird. |

| Re: What strange things has your dog eaten? I've heard of dogs eating dish towels before. They smell/taste the juices from wiping our hands after cooking. You're lucky it came out.
I had a dog eat a sash to a nylon robe once. Never missed it until I noticed something pink coming out of his rear end. I too was very lucky. |

| Re: What strange things has your dog eaten? All I can say is that I kept him and I call him my dumpster dog, that is where he was tied most of his life right next to one. That was five years ago and my husband is still telling people what Kramer ate. |

I remember our old Golden chowing down an entire head of Garlic in one shot. Followed up with an entire green pepper-
Ugghhh...was not a "pleasant" eve- what a stinky old boy! |

My dog has gas that clears a room. He always has it, since I got him at 4 months old. He eats the same food as my other dogs. Other than the dish rag and drier sheets of course. He hasn't done any of that lately either yet the gas remains. Help, I can't stand it... |

| Re: What strange things has your dog eaten? Well, I'm not sure how weird it is, but Blondie likes to eat the hulls of pecans (you know the part that covers the pecan before it drops to the ground, not the shell). She also likes to eat tree bark and sticks, though she is slowly getting out of this habit. It used to be that I could call her and ask her to release whatever she had in her mouth, but lately she just looks at me out of the side of her eyes and walks away very slowly, LOL. I think the little bugger is getting smart. |

This cement chewing was right after the patio was poured. The stuff was dry but it was within a day or two. The thing is, it was an ongoing project (my husband is slow, and easily distracted <g>), but though other cement was poured in the past, her chewing on it was something new. She was bringing chunks into the house. I can't help thinking there was something in this batch of cement that she either craved or was attractive to her. I'm hoping it's not something she's lacking in her diet. |

Just because the other dogs do well on it, doesn't mean that it doesn't bother him. Or does he maybe get table scraps that might bother him? Just equate it with people - a group of people can all eat the same thing, but one in the group ends up with intestinal problems because they can't tolerate a specific ingredient. You may just have to try him on different things -- or get a fan. |

| Re: What strange things has your dog eaten? Well, Bonny follows me around everywhere so one night I went to go get some bonbons for desert. I accidently dropped one and she picked up my mess for me. I thought it was cute because her name is Bonny and she ate a bonbon... yeah, lol. |

| Re: What strange things has your dog eaten? Actually my family dog (who now lives with them in California) used to eat her hair! Like when we'd brush her (she's got a some chow in here so she's medium haired) she'd pick up the chunks of her undercoat and eat them...it was really weird! Of course we didn't let her, but still...very weird! |

He just stinks I guess. He is lucky he is cute. I mean this smell peals the paint off the walls. PU!!! Someone told me to sprinkle baking soda on his food. Have you ever heard of that? |
