One of my dogs does that too, and some like to eat the dog nail clippings. Maybe it's like cow hooves. I also keep her from eating the hair, but occasionally a stray wisp will hit the floor before I can catch it, and it's gone in a flash.

It's kind of like having a dog food powered vacuum cleaner.

Not really, did they say what the theory was behind it? I did a quick search, and among other tips for the use of baking soda is one saying to put a small amount of baking soda in beans while soaking them and that will reduce flatulence. So maybe that's what they meant?

He hasn't done any of that lately either yet the gas remains. Help, I can't stand it...
Yogurt and pumpkin!

As far as weird things, my (late) boxer ate the controller to the PS2! I've heard of dogs eating panties and socks too. The Bra is a new one though

Amaya and Mazie go nuts over gum. We have to really watch where we set it because they will even take it out of your purse. I don't mean a piece, they take the whole pack of gum and eat it up. Thats why we now keep Amaya's face shaved. She would chew up gum and it would be all in her beard. Mazie eats colored pencils and any type of eraser she can get ahold of. They are always into something it seems. I can always tell right away when Mazie has something she shouldn't. She will come waltzing in the room and stop a few feet away from me, staring at me and wiggling all over. Then I am like uh oh, she's got something. She did that about two weeks ago and I went over to her and took her treasure from her. It was so cute, she was so excited over the eraser off a pencil.

The Pug down the road from us is adicted to nicotine, he has been chewing on cigarette butts in their yard for years.

Re: What strange things has your dog eaten?

A friened's viszla ate her husband's $1400 hearing aid.

Esther chewed open a quart of motor oil. I don't think she injested a significant amount or I'd probably be posting this on the pet memorial forum.

Instead, she carried it to the family room and emptied the container into the carpet.
