| Largest in body mass is the Tibetan mastiff or the english mastiff, according to the standards it's the english, according to specimens recorded it's the tibetan.
Tallest is by far the Irish wolfhound, Danes actually look kind of shortish when you see them next to a wolfhound.
I used to have a Spanish mastiff, he was pretty big, 220 lbs and a good 29-30 inches tall, he basically looked like an oversized saint bernard.
BIG DOGS RULE!!! |

| The Caucasian Mountain dog can also reach sizes of 200+ lbs and 30+ inches. And for a mini schnauzer, Elsa is on the big end at 14.5 inches tall, and 19 lbs. |

| I think Great Danes are just so handsome. Big dogs are great, but I do like my little mid-size model She's perfect for my smaller yard and home too. |

| The guiness book of world records has a Neo Mastiff listed as the world's largest dog. She's 289 lbs...wow, that's like 15 Elsas. |

| The Old English Mastiff is the LARGEST breed of dog in the world .
.They can weigh anywhere from 110 pounds to the 343 pounds. Zorba,an English mastuff ,held the world record of the world's largest dog. Most Mastiff males weigh around 160-230 pounds and females around 120-190 pounds. The hight of a mastiff can range from 26 inches at the shoulder to 36 inches |

| I grew up understanding the Irish Wolfhound to be the largest dog, but then I was thinking of largest as tallest not heaviest. I've seen some weenie dogs that might top that scale .
Either way, its too big for me. I'm a medium dog person. A big dog would be taller than me. |

| Sort of depends on how you want to define the largest breed. If you are talking tallest, the Irish Wolfhound tops them all. If you have ever met one in person, they are HUGE! Very cool dogs.
But if you are talking largest, like in mass and weight, then the Mastiff (I think the Neo is a huge dog....not sure which of the Mastiff breeds.) but they are the heaviest dogs. I am thinking. There are some really HUGE breeds out there that are not overly well known.
Sort of depends on how you want to look at it. Personally I could not really imagine owing an IWH. WOW! That is one tall dog. I do happen to LOVE the Great Danes though. Thats about as big as I could own. |

| Irish Wolfhound are by far the largest. I've seen it on Breed All About it.
in 2nd are the Great Danes.
Just because theres a World record for the largest dog, doesnt make that breed the largest.
there is always a dog out there to break that record, the owners just never thought to send it in, because they don't care if the dog broke the record. they love that dog for what it is.
IMO Old English Mastiffs are smaller than Great Danes. I've seen them stand next to each other in person, and the Great Dane was ALWAYS taller than the OEM |

| I have Giant Breeds, a great dane, a st bernard, a bloodhound. Giant breeds are not for everyone. They have shorter lifespan, on average, than other breeds. You MUST have them obiedence trained. I am 5'2" and about 115 lbs. I can handle these guys, but no way if they weren't properly trained. they eat ALOT. I alos have a terrier mix and a basset hound. Chloe, my bloodhound is on the high side of normal, weight wise, the rest are very lean. I go through 50 lbs of kibble a WEEK. They are prone to joint problems, so managing weight and exercise is important.
I love the giants!
This is Maggie, my dane. The boy is 5'8"
This is me and Chloe, my bloodhound, 3 years ago
