| Oh My God!!! Hey,
I am in desprite need of advise!! I was just out walking Sophie, when all of the sudden this pit bull puppy walks over out of no where. He was a big sweet heart, but Sophie started to bark and growl. I was absolutely terrified, because Sophie doesn't have her rabies vaccination yet. We have an appointment of friday. I was so scared that she'd bit him. I was trying to get her inside as fast as possible. Then out of no where his owner comes. Mind you the dog was running along without a leash. The owners dog being my neighbors son. Comes over and smacks the poor dog and starts dragging him by the collar. I am so off. It was the owners fault. I don't know where my neighbors son lives, though I think I should call the ASPCA or something like that. I mean that dog didn't diserve a smack on the head. What should I do? Should I call animal control? I am so scared for that puppy. I think he might be going to use him in fighting. I would love some advise.
P.S. Sophie is fine she didn't bite him, but she has a problem with dogs she doesn't know. I mean she loves my sisters dog, but what am I supposed to do. I am trying to work with her, but it is so hard. She has already peed on my 3 times, peed in the house 4 times, and pooped in the house twice, once being in my sisters room. I don't mind cleaning it up, but everyone else minds this behavior. I want her potty trained, although she has only been with me for 4 days. I mean we've already bonded really well. She doesn't let me out of her sight. I'd love some advise.

| Re: Oh My God!!! Start from scratch with potty training. You need to establish a good reputation with this dog...it may need some serious bonding time
The poop/pee in the house is unacceptable...whether you mind cleaning it up or not, a dog is to do its business outside. The next time she poos in the house, take the poo outside to the area designated for her to do her business. Some dogs like to go business where they had went previously.
Clean all messes that have been made in the house with an enzymatic cleaner, found at pet stores, so the dog won't be tempted to pee/poo in that area again.
If you haven't caught her in the act of doing business, you can't reprimand her after the fact...catch her in the act, tell her "No", don't use her name, and rush her outside.
First thing in the morning, and the last thing before bed, you should take her outside for business. You should be able to tell, based on how much water she drank and her activity during the day, when she is likely to have to go business. You could take her outside every 3 hours or less, and give her a chance to go business, then Praise, Praise, Praise her with "Good girl!".
The praise is what's going to play a big role in teaching her to business outside.
As far as socialization goes, this dog needs it...and the best way to go about this is to start getting her around more dogs. When you want her to meet a dog, first ask the dog's owner if that dog is friendly, have your dog sit, and if she isn't calm, wait until she is. DO NOT say "its okay" for any reason. This is said too often when a dog is showing fear or aggression, your only telling the dog that its inappropriate behavior is appropriate! When it isn't.
Dog's introduce themselves by sniffing each other's private regions. I know, not pleasing for most owners to see, but that is how they do it. If you feel that she is going to bite the other dog, restrain her but be calm, face her towards you and let the opposing dog approach for a sniff, then ask the owner's dog to have her dog turn around and lead your dog over for a sniff.
If you have your dog meet with another dog face to face, and your dog is the trouble maker, she might be prompted to bite. What happens is they stare each other down, and I think it would be better to follow the approach I describe above, so there isn't any frontal confrontation on their first meeting.
Then ask the owner if they would like to walk with you and your dog...most dogs become more comfortable upon meeting a new dog, when they are walking together, as all dogs enjoy a good walk How often is she walked during the day? A dog should have daily exercise.
What kind of breed is she and how old?
I hope my advice helps...I look forward to reading an update on your issues with your dog. |

Well, on the off chance that this dog is a real, living dog I will give you advice.
First, you need to work on potty training/ crate training. Puppies don't potty train themselves, and require constant supervision. When you observe your puppy getting ready to potty in the house, immediately pick her up and take her outside and let her finish doing her business there. Make sure that you use a firm "NO!" when she potties in the house, but also make sure that when she finishes her business outside you praise her like she's just won the lottery.
Crate training makes house training much easier. As your dog (from what you have said in previous posts) comes from a breeder that is somewhat unethical, she may not know that lying in her own mess is unacceptable. These kinds of cases require extra patience.
When you are unable to watch your dog for a lenth of time, place the puppy in the crate. At first, the puppy will scream its head off, but after a while it will get used to the crate and come to see the crate as its own special room or den.
Please remember, a puppy can only hold its bladder for about an hour of time for every month it is old. For example:
One month old puppy = holds bladder for one hour
two months old puppy = holds bladder for two hours
three months old puppy = holds bladder for three hours
Does that make sense?
In regards to you walking your puppy with out vaccinations, that is just not a good idea. The puppy does not have immunity to terrible diseases such as parvo, the corona virus, and kennel cough all of which can be fatal in a young pup. Do not walk your young pup out side of its yard with out proper vaccinations. IMHO that is just asking for trouble.
In regards to her temperment- a dog's temperment is 30% genetic and 70% owner. If you want your dog to be comfortable with other dogs, then WAIT until she is vaccinated THEN enroll her into puppy preschool. As she is exhibiting signs of being dog aggressive at such an early age, I would do this as soon as possible. |

Since I am terrified that she'll bite someone or someone's pet. The dog was running loose with no leash, which is against the law in MN. I will definetly be talking to a professional about her behavior. Oh and she is real, she's the cutest puppy, I just got her 5 days ago and I've already taught her sit, stay, and kisses<-- My favorite one. Oh yah is it ok if I catch her in the act of peeing, that I put her in the crate for some chill down time. Also as far as how much I walk her. I am always taking her out every 2 hours. I am excited that I have her. she really loves me and my house. She even loves the new food I picked out more then what she was previously on, in fact she wouldn't touch the food when I mixed them so I tried feeding her just what I bought. Plus the stuff is holistic< very good A+++. Now all I have to decide is if I want to do agility with her. Oh I don't think it's genetic that she is not nice to other dogs. She was always around other dogs when she lived with the breeder. In fact she had two other puppies and five adult dogs to play with. I hope I can get her potty trained. It is one of the hardest things I have ever done with her. Thanks for the advice. |

You must think we're all incredibly stupid here. |

| Re: Oh My God!!! If you have had her for 4 or 5 days. Then obviously she will not be potty trained. And you taught her all those tricks already. Sounds strange. No dont put her in her crate if you catch her, take her outside. and prasie the heck out of her when she goes outside. |

That is, if she's real.
Which I doubt.

Curbside Prophet
Sure, I'll play along.
If you're terrified of this why is she in the front yard in the first place? Is there something wrong with your back yard?
I din't discover it till she was in the front yard with that dog.
And what behavior would that be? Puppy behavior?
She tends to get defensive when another dog comes in her taritory.
How did you teach these? I'm very impressed.
I used what is called the loved dog method. It was really easy. Sit took about three to four days and stay needs the bugs worked out. Kisses came naturally, I just taught her the word.
What did she do wrong to be punished with isolation?
It varys, when she is biting on furniture, or pees in the house three times in a row after I brought her out. I don't think I am gonna use it anymore.
What is this stuff?
Castor & Pollux Natural Ultramix Puppy Formula
Why do you have to decide?
I've heard if she gets attached to it and I don't want to do it after shes learned it, then she might become a bad seed. Quote:

Sound's pretty fishy to me... | No she doesn't have rabies, but if she doesn't have her shot and she bites someone she would have to be put down, and that would be the worst ever. Last night I had a dream that she had been mixed up with another dog and they put her to sleep. I was crying so badly, because I've only had her for so long. She is three months today, which means now she can get her rabies shot. Quote:

No in fact she loves people, even kids!! I have never seen a puppy that was so great with people. She just has trouble with dogs she doesn't know. Quote:

Your posts make absolutely no sense to me. Perhaps if these questions are really bothering you, you need to talk to a professional, such as a dog trainer or a vet.
I have offered my best advice. |

The crate should be used only when you are not there to supervise her. Quote:
