| What We Did Today Today was the last of six days of vacation. I know you're dying to know how I spent it.
I'm weaving that vinyl privacy webbing into the side of Esther's kennel run that faces the neighbor's yard. Esther is not at all shy about skinning dipping in plain sight, but there is a whole herd of yorkies living next door and, if they can see her, they make the most God-awful racket imaginable.
Weaving that stuff through 3 6'x6' panels gives new meaning to the term "tedious." I'm 2/3 done with the first panel.
Then I put a drain in Esther's kiddie pool. The only way to empty it without a drain is to bail it out until I can lift it and dump it. That's a pain, and it needs to be done often since she frolics, drinks and who-knows-what-else in that pool every day.
I went around and repaired the fence in places where Esther has crashed through it.
Are we detecting a pattern here?
I don't know how many times I threw the tennis ball today, but I'm certain I threw more pitches than Roger Clemons will during the remainder of the season for the Yankees.
Oh, and I went to Petco to pick up some essential supplies. |

| Re: What We Did Today You are such a lucky dog dad, Ron! Esther allows you to have so much fun on your vacation.
I can tell you that I've had the same kind of vacations as you've just had. They are such exciting times that I can't control myself.
The things we do for our 4 legged kids~ |

| Re: What We Did Today No vacation for me today, though for the 8 dogs I walked at the shelter today, hopefully they all felt like they were on a mini vacation. One of them I found out later was going home to a new family...a boder collie mix named Willy. The best power naps I've ever had come on days when I return from the shelter. Today was no exception. Now it's Elsa's turn for another walk to see how many Soft Paw nails we can get to come off during a few rounds of frisbee. |

| Re: What We Did Today I know my day wasn't exceptional and, since I was outdoors with my dog, it was not unpleasant.
I just wish that people considering getting a dog would also consider what it takes to do right by the dog. Maybe a few more stories from other dog lovers will make good reading for prospective dog owners. |

| Re: What We Did Today I am so jealous of that kennel Esther has! Well I should say Bridgette is jealous of it! I am determined to build on when we move somewhere with land. I really want to move sooner rather than later for that reason and because I would love to bring another dog into the family.
Bridgette is looking a little bored today. We did quite a bit of training earlier, but most of the day was spent watching be clean and vacuum the condo...not really how she wanted to spend the day I think. But it's cooled down now so we're going to head out for a walk as soon as Alex gets home. |

| Re: What We Did Today Well, mostly we all slept. Yesterday was a 14 hour trip home from the beach, complete with lots of potty breaks for the pup and ourselves. *We gave her ice chips on the way*
Most of last week was spent taking Orchid for 5 mile walks along the beach in the early morning. It was just *beautiful*
We also took her to Salty Paws *which she loved* and let her play in the surf.
The tough owner part came from having to keep her groomed out EVERY TIME she went down to the beach *didn't want her to get sand mats and get itchy* and making sure that she didn't over heat in the 103 degree weather *it was hot even in our beach house*
It's like having a very furry, and mostly disobedient child, LOL! |
