Re: Incident on our walk this morning- disturbing..

I do remember one story about Maggie. This is before we had Bess our boxer. I was about six years old and we were at a national park camping and I was with my older cousin and Maggie fishing. We were all escited to be on our own by the water and of course were horsing around when all of a sudden Maggie started pacing back and forth and snorting and whining. We ignored her for a few minutes because we figured she was worried about us playing around by the waters edge (it wasn't fast moving....just a shallow area of the lake). A few seconds later she ran to the waters edge and started barking and snarling and this HUGE snapping turtle that had been sitting about four feet away from where my cousin and I had been sitting started hissing and raching to bite her. My dad and uncle went back to see it and sure enough it was still there so they picked it up and brought it up stream to the marsh and released it. It was about 60 pounds and from tip to tail of the shell is was 2 foot! I have never seen a bigger snapper since....like a turtle on steroids. Well of course me being the little girl who was (at the time) scared of turtles started screaming which brought my ENTIRE family (about 40 people) running. My dad grabbed me and Maggie and we went back to camp. Needless to say I didn't do anymore fishing on that trip. I fish now every now and then....but I always check the waters edge before I make myself comfy!

That was something else I just saw that on the TV the other day! That was one strong dog swimming with a shark that size.

I was out in the woods with Kramer hiking and we came across a deer he looked at it and just kept going in the same direction. We then came up to a sun turttle, he took a sniff and when it moved he jumped about three feet off the ground. It was so funny I had to pick it up and show it to him again I just couldn't get over how he acted over the turttle.

Re: Incident on our walk this morning- disturbing..

We dont realy have any wild animals in our bush unless you count snakes and spiders (some of the deadliest in the world mind you) we dont have wolves, big cats, bears or anything big like that. We have wild boars, and in some states (not NSW where I live, sydney) there are massive crocs and in the oceans lots of sharks. There are often stories of crocs eating dogs, infact some mean fisherman throw their dogs in the water to make sure there are no crocs, so if the dogs come back to the boat they know its safe to get in the water too. But yeah, no big animals in the wild life. Ive never seen a crocodile because they arent in this part of the country, only up north and west. There are lots of snake bites though!
