So I found out today that there were numerous and very disturbing reasons why the veterinarian at my previous vet got his license revoked. Apparently he also ran a small "non-profit" shelter in our area. Here's what our newspaper had on it's front page...
Quote:
On May 16, the board found:
-- Animals at the now-closed Huntington Drive shelter were exposed to cruelty or neglect due to deprivation of food, water or shelter.
-- The shelter presented itself as a nonprofit organization without filing the proper paperwork with the Internal Revenue Service.
-- Controlled substances were administered to animals and animals' heart and respiratory rates were not monitored.
-- The facility was advertised as veterinary-owned and operated, but veterinarians were not present on a regular basis.
-- The shelter advertised itself as a non-kill shelter, then euthanized eight non-aggressive dogs that had been relinquished to the facility for adoption by their owners to make room for additional puppies.
-- A veterinary procedure was performed without adequate equipment or sanitation.

The veterinarian at the vet I work for also talked to someone who was close to this investigation and found out that this guy had an awful temper and had been known to take it out on animals...his wife (also a vet who is now under investigation) was the only one who could stop him!
I was absolutely appalled by this! Ugh!
