retaining placentas

my siberian Alaska is due to give birth within the next week. i have taken the week off to see that she does ok seeing its her first litter, as is mine. we are not expecting her to have her pups on saturday but in the slim chance that she does i have to be at work and no one will be home. i am worried that she might retain a placenta or after birth. i was woundering how i will know if she has retianed one???

Re: retaining placentas

She would be acting lethargic and sickly after a while if anything went wrong. Normally they will feel/look tired afterward though.
