Sounds like she is dreaming You can continue to wake her up gently when she starts to shake. You say this is happening every night...how much exercise does she get during the day?

Re: shakes while sleep

haha I have a 8 week old pitbull puppy & he shakes, barks, whines, & growels in his sleep. It is nothing more then a dream im almost positive! Us humans talk, groan, scream & jump in our sleep so it should be no different to dogs. I really wouldnt give it much thought really, my puppy does it EVERYTIME he sleeps & ive had alot of pupies its NOTHING to worry about honest. Just let him sleep & have his little dream. Good dream or nightmare it all the same, im sure he is just playing in his dream so you will see alot of shaking & run like movment!

Pretty sure my beagle has hunted down grizzly bears, killed them, and eaten them in his sleep.... just based on his barking, shaking, moving, and growling while asleep

This is all pretty normal... and incredibly funny!

Re: shakes while sleep

All 3 of my dogs shake and twitch in their sleep, sometimes letting out little barks, growls, or wimpers. Also, often their little legs will be moving just as if they're running. And the dog I used to have also did the same thing. I attribute it to dreams, just like I myself have.
