| Re: Performance Artists protests animal cruelty by... At first, I thought they were going to kill the corgi, just so he could eat it. Whew, I found out they werent. That still is very gross, and I think he could have done something else instead of eating a dog, because a fox was killed. At least he cares enough to do something though. |

3) Comparing dogs to cows is comparing apples to oranges. | 1) That's true but as most threads do, this thread has morphed.
2a) If this thread is about some shock jock eating a dog, why are you talking about cows at all? Could it have something to do with the morphing of this thread, and would it mean that your logic is flawed too?
2b) Eating cows, or any other animals, raised and killed inhumanely (which would certainly make a difference in the animals mood) certainly should make a difference to anyone with compassion. Our use of animals, whether dead or alive, should not include inhumane treatment, and if you ignore that inhumane treatment, you are supporting it by paying the producers for the inhumanely produced product - just like with puppymills.
3) Comparing apples to oranges is appropriate because they are both fruit. Comparing cows to dogs is also appropriate because they are both sentient creatures, capable of feeling the pain and suffering of the inhumane treatment that you seem to want to ignore because they are now dead.
Nope, my logic is just fine, thanks. Quote:

Almost everything has some protein in it, and a variety of foods should give you all you need. This website has more: http://www.happycow.net/vegetarian_protein.html

And yes, people were getting sick from spinach that was subjected to the runoff water from stockyards nearby. People were eating packaged spinach without washing it. That can be remedied by washing it more carefully. Unfortunately you can't wash a hamburger. |

I dont like soy or nuts (only a few nuts I like), I have considered those options. And about the American Diet, I am not on the average american diet, my friends that are on average american diets dont want to eat anything at my house because its too healthy for them.
PS I want to look at the website, but im in a rush so I will later. |

| Re: Performance Artists protests animal cruelty by... Have you tried boca burgars and the chicken patties and stuff? Those are soo good. Also the morningstar*(pretty sure that's the name of the one I'm thinking of) has a really good veggie burgar. I always though soy would be tasteless but it actually taste really good. They have chopped "meat" by Boca too. They also has protien in it I think.
edit-If you have a Fudruckers near you they have AMAZING veggieburgars. The best I've EVER had.

| Re: Performance Artists protests animal cruelty by... Regarding vegetarian diets, there are lacto-ovo vegetarians and then there are vegans. The first group should have no trouble at all with protein because they eat dairy products (milk, cheese, eggs, etc). There is protein in all of those, and egg whites are actually considered the perfect protein, which all other proteins are compared to as far as quality of the protein. The vegans, on the other hand, eat no meat, no dairy, period. But you can still get all the protein you need. There are pretty much 4 food groups for vegans to consider to get protein. Nuts, grains, seeds, and legumes. All of those have protein, but are considered partial proteins. If you combine any 2 of those groups, you now have a complete protein.
Then of course, all of the meatless options mentioned above, like Boca, Morningstar Farms, Veggieburger, they all have products that are pretty good. Burgers, Riblets, Fake Chicken nuggets or patties, and of course, the ground imitation beef or sausage to use as meal starters.
There are definitely alot more options for vegetarians now then there used to be. |
