Exclamation Q: advantage. also HELP ME

i have recently brought advantage for my puppy and somebody told me that you cant wash your dog for a month? i read the leaflet and it doesnt say anything about when i can wash her or if i can wash her at all. can anyone help me? Frontline or Advantage? anyone find a "better" one? Also my puppy is driving me crazy because she keeps going to the toilet on the carpet! i have wee pads but she doesnt use it all the time, i praise her when she goes on the pad and give her treats but she rarely poos on the pad. But i think its mostly my fault because i let her run around the house unsupervised but i have learned my lesson she is now in a pen when when i cant supervise her. She hates the pen she rips up the paper and barks and growls, SHES DRIVING ME CRAZY!!

Re: Q: advantage. also HELP ME

Advantage is effective against fleas only. It does nothing for ticks. Don't know where you live so don't know if you have a tick problem. K9 Advantix works against fleas, ticks and mosquitoes.

After applying the treatment you should hold off 24-36 hours before bathing. If you've got questions, I believe the package has an 800 number you can call and get advice directly from the company.

As for your other problem, you cannot leave a puppy unsupervised in the house. Besides housebreaking, there are other safety issues. Housebreaking is a 24/7 job for YOU until puppy learns to ask to go outside. Do you take puppy outside every couple of hours or right after a meal or drink?

Re: Q: advantage. also HELP ME

I have used Frontline since the product has come out and have not had any fleas or ticks that are terrible in our area. I give them baths about two days after and it keeps on working. They also go into our pond and I haven't had a problem. As far as the crate try giving her some fun toys and good treats, keeping her in there when you can't watch is the right thing to do. Is she going to be going out at all to go to the bathroom?

She has plenty of toys in there and she even has a sml bone in there to chew if she gets board. We go outside and play around and if she pees or poos thats good but i would rather her learn to go inside because thats were she is most of the time, i would like to put one of them swingy doggie doors in but 1. its not my house, its my parents. 2. we have glass sliding doors and we dont have a fenced yard so she will get lost.

If she's not going to be going outside to go to the bathroom, try training her to use a litter box. They have special doggie litter boxes and special paper type litter. You can take a used peepee pad and place it in the bottom of the litter pan with a thin layer of litter over it to help her get the idea. You can also collect some poop (have fun!) and put that in the litter box.
