Help..Looking for Rescue Shelter In North Florida Area

Sad to say, but I need to find a home for my 10 yr old lab. I've contacted LabRescue of Florida, but have yet to hear back from them. If anyone knows of any other shelters or people that will take in and care for an older animal, I would greatly appreciate the information. Thank you.

Have you looked on Petfinder?

Here's a listing of all rescues in Florida on Petfinder.

Thanks Lorina, I looked through there the other night and found a few additional places to contact, but nothing solid at this point.

Many private rescues don't take owner surrenders. They are filled to the gills rescueing dogs from death row at shelters. If they also took owner surrenders, they'd have no room for the shelter dogs.

Have you tried contacting the dog's original breeder? Good breeders will always take back a dog that they've bred & placed.

Good luck. Senior animals can be pretty tough to place

Probably the best bet would be, like you mentioned in your other thread, seeing if your vet can find someone who'll be able to take him.

A lot of rescues won't touch a dog with a bite history, and being a senior is another strike against him.
