I am walking with my dog Jordy in the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal) Walk A Thon. This event is an opportunity to help the thousands of animals in Ontario SPCA adoption centres across the province that are waiting in hope of finding someone to share life with, someone to love them and be loved back many times over.

The WALKATHON is designed to raise funds and awareness for the protection and care of animals.

No problem at all. It is good advice. Just so everyone knows the money is donated directly to the Ontario SPCA and does not go through an individual's hands first. That link I provided is secure and the site is that of the SPCA.

Hopefully all this will make people feel comfortable with donating. If you don't feel comfortable donating to this event, please donate to a local shelter near you!

Rescueman, you must be confused. There are two things here I think you're overlooking. 1) This isn't a public forum...it is privately owned and operated. 2) This is the internet, and con artists come in every form, even to go so far as fronting as a rescue. I think Lubby understands perfectly by recommending others to donate to their local shelter. Your view however is divisive.

The link to the SPCA was allowed to stand but with a warning. With knowledge a con artist can set up a web site identical to a real one so no one should be offended by a warning.
To avoid problems you can always approach the web site without using a link. I.e. Google SPCA and use their site to locate the local one and explore that one to see if the fundraiser exists. With a cell phone you can call that citys SPCA and do the same thing.
