Why do dogs do this?

My 4 year old APBT will jump on the bed and push back the comforter and then nibble with her front teeth on the comforter.
Is she tasting the material? What is she doing?

Thanks

It sounds like she's grooming it! LOL. Nothing to worry about.

Re: Why do dogs do this?

Sometime a dog that is taken away from its mother to early will do things like that.

Re: Why do dogs do this?

Abby will munch on the comforter and pillows on the bed. I thought it was just a tasting and chewing thing. Or maybe cleaning up molecules of ice cream, or peanuts or corn chips.

Never occurred to me that she may have been taken from her mom too soon.
We got her when she was 31/2 months old, so unfortunately, we missed her early puppyhood.

I agree that is has to do with her being taken away from her mother too early. We had a cat that would, ( hate to say it like this ), suck on one of his own nipples because he was taken away from his mother too early. I think its a comfort thing.
