Question Grazing Goldens

Is it common for golden retrievers and/or golden mixes to graze on grass? I currently have a pure golden and a golden/mastiff mix and had a golden/pyr mix (the bestest dog. I had to put him down due to a fungal infection that had completely invaded his lungs and was starting to invade his bones.) and they have all grazed whenever outside. I was just wondering if this was a breed trait or if they are good ol' fashioned weird.

I have put Nylabones (which is what they chew on in the house) and Kongs outside for them to use, but they prefer the grass. Any thoughts?

Re: Grazing Goldens

It's not a breed thing, rather a dog "thang" LOL

My dogs are grazers as well, not just ripping the grass, but they eat it!!

We've never had any problems because of it.

With my guys, they need their greens. With the switch to raw I haven't been able to get any veggies in there yet, but they were eating grass long before than anyways.

Sometimes I think they do it after a long run and the grass is nice and cool and wet. *shrugs*

Thanks all. I thought i might be freaking out for no reason. I also have no chemicals on my yard. I weed with a huge propane torch that does a wonderful job around fence lines.

Re: Grazing Goldens

My pit/mastiff mix and my mini schnauzer both do it so I don't think it is a breed thing.

Whoa...It's late, and when I first read that post, I thought you meant there were no chemicals because they eat all the chemicals off of it...As in you put it on, but they eat it...But nevermind, it's late...
