Good Info on Dog Parks

Found this article on Dog Parks. Some really good information on the good and bad points of a Dog Park.

That article brings up some very good pints. Thank you for that, Captbob.

I also think that dog parks, like dogs, need to be each evaluated on it's own merits. I realize from reading this forum that some are not nice places. The one I've been going to for about 12 years is very good but I guess, when I'm travelling with my dog, I shouldn't assume that all are going to be as good.

I didn't know that dog parks had places for smaller dogs under 20 lbs. If my local one does we will def. go. I've always wanted to take the girls but don't want them around bigger dogs since they are so small. 8 lbs and 15 lbs.

The three parks in my area all of small dog sections. Often they are empty, but I've seen as many as twenty five assorted puppies on a nice day and it's a hoot.

The area at the local dog park here for little dogs is like 6 ft x 10 ft or something. It's ridiculous. The big dogs get a huge nice area, but thelittle dogs get nothing really. And it's really muddy in the little dog area usually too. Needless to say most little dog owners don't take the dogs to a dog park. See if you can arrange play dates with other little dogs. It's safer imo and still a lot of fun. More controlled variables because you know the dogs/owners.
