i really need advice for this problem. my 10 lb dog lets out shrill, screeching barks when i stop the car, and keeps it up until i get him out. otherwise he is very content in the crate when riding. i have always contained him while in the car since he was a small pup. he is 15 mo old now. this really is very hard on the nerves and i find myself dreading getting gas, stopping for food etc. he has not been left in the car all along by himself for any time, so he should not fear of that. any help would be appreciated.

From what you've stated, it sounds like your dog is anxious to get out of the car and knows that getting out of the car often happens when the car stops moving. By getting him out of the car you are reinforcing this behavior so he is more likely to do it again the next time.
The best way to extinquish this is to wait until he is quiet before getting him out of the car everytime, regardless of how long this takes. His barking is likely to get worse before it gets better but this is normal so be sure that do not give in.
