Has anyone every used the vet service at Petco? How was it?

In general, any health care professional (human or animal) should be a member of thier professional society. I look to see if the vet practice is a member of the AAHA- American Animal Hospital Association. Visit www.aahanet.org
Also, ask if they are members of thier professional society at the national, state and local level. Some vets are board certified.

I've never used them but I've heard Petco is not the best place to go. I've always been recommended to PetSmart.

I agree with GSD, I don't really like Petco myself. I've always thought PetSmart was much better. But I have gotten my dog groomed at Petco before temporarily and they did a pretty good job.

I have to say I'm skeptical of any chain vet. I liked my little local animal hospital best.

Personally, I'd check with your neighbors, too, to see who they go to. I'm sure a lot go to the chains, but if they were all that the little clinics would be no more. Definitely compare. Also get referrals from large pet emergency rooms.
