Fish body oil is great for a dog's coat. I give mine salmon oil. Sardines are good, as well as herring.

I heard that grease (from burgers and other greasey foods!) is good because it keeps the shine in a dogs coat. Myth or true? I would think it would, but *doesn't know*

^ No, that's not true as far as I know. It probably won't make their coats any better than they are, but it might contribute to making them fat if they eat too much lol...

I occasionally pour a little of the bacon grease that is left over after we cook it, onto my dogs dry food. I've heard that it's good for dry skin, but I don't know if its true or not. The dogs seem to like it ok. I might try the sardines too, but that will really make my youngest dogs breath even worse. lol

The bacon grease will only give your dog diarrhea. The fats that are good for a coat are full of Omega 3 fatty acids, found in fish oils.
