Post Removing urine from concrete

Can anyone tell me how to get the odor from pet urine out of concrete? The previous owners of my house had cats and the smell in the basement is awful. I just pulled up all the carpet to replace it but would like to treat the concrete before I do anything.

Mr. Clean and a good solid scrubbing brush (doesn't have to be steel, but good solid plastic bristles) should take care of it. MOST concrete is not porous when it is cured so the odor should come off with a good scrubbing.

If that doesn't work you could always have a professional lay a THIN THIN layer of concrete on top.

You need an enzymatic cleaner to remove the odor. (Sorry, but Mr. Clean won't cut it.)

Mix 1 part white vinegar with 3 parts water. You could also dust the cement with baking soda lightly before moping with the vinegar for an extra deorderizing agent. Careful - it fizzes.
