| Re: Oprah's dog show not to defend Oprah (i personally think she a flake) but, i wonder if you if you could 100%, beyond a shadow of a doubt, guarantee that she got her pups from a BYB/puppymiller.......the lady i will be getting my next BC pup from would probably make some people feel the same way, but by what you folks' criteria of what makes a BYB/puppymill breeder is, she is far from one.....every one of her breeding dogs is trialed (herding), titled, health CERTIFIED (not just checked), only the best to the best bred, waiting list for up to 2 yrs for a pup from her, tests the pups to match w/ the right owner, pups micro'd b/4 leaving (w/ eyes checked), contract stipulating all the "what's, who's, where's etc", etc., etc., etc.,.......but to walk onto her place and look at those pups (max 2 litters a yr) and adults her "layout" would make most of you turn away from her as "a BYB".....so, are you absolutely positive that's where Oprah got her pups?
oh, and everyone of her litters are born/raised in the house, under foot till 8-12 wks (depending on each pup).....
just curious...... |

| Re: Oprah's dog show I googled the obscure California city where her website said she got them and golden retrievers, and came up with one breeder in that town. I clicked on the website and it was white goldens, so I'd be willing to bet that is where she got them. It didn't look like a byb/puppymill to me, but the site is under construction still, so it's hard to tell.
ETA: I searched around a little more and there are a some negative things listed about the breeder. It is Sandar Goldens. I have too much time on my hands.

| Re: Oprah's dog show first CaptBob she did not adopt she paid alot of money to a person who has been suspended by the AKC and is operating under a pseudonym at this time.... so there is a difference between adopting and buying from someone who is a known mill......
preaching adoption is fine.... but buying puppies from a disreputable person is neither a rescue nor an adoption.....
the fact that she was able to purchase three pups at one time is indicative of the fact that this person was not reputable.
Sandar goldens.... is the only breeder in the area..... and go and do your search on that site.... its not good.....
websites are not accurate ways to tell if a breeder is reputable or not....
again more money than brains....

| Re: Oprah's dog show This is the way I see it. I got my dogs from BYB, but at the time, I wasn't educated about BYB and puppymills. Now that I know, I would never get a dog from another person even remotely like the seperate people I got my dogs from. I think she's just uneducated. |

that is indicative that a person has not done their homework more than anything.....
and then right there is wher eyou said adopt..... perhaps I misunderstood what you meant..... but she didn't adopt.... she bought three puppies from a person who had been suspended by the AKC
sorry If I misunderstood.

| Re: Oprah's dog show Thats funny you say "more money than brains" when in reality since the only reason she has that much money is because of her brains..And do you not remember that she has(or had not sure ) more than the 3 goldens . Remember? So if she has exspieriance why shouldnt she get more than one puppy? |

s | I think many people that get a dog, just want a nice, well behaved dog with an even temperament, and don't really get nuts over some minor difference in hair color, or ear length, or many of the other things that some people think are important. I think these people are probably more the rule rather than the exception. |

and no reputable breeder sells three goldens to any person at the same time..... shoot we won't sell two to the same person... I dont know a single reputable breeder who will do that.....

I think you are right that the 3 people that have emailed me today are the exception but darn it they come out of the woodwork.....
makes me nuts.....
