| Hercules Hercules was recently awarded the honorable distinction of Worlds Biggest
Dog by Guinness World Records. Hercules is an English Mastiff and has a 38 inch neck and weighs 282 pounds.
With "paws the size of softballs" (reports the Boston Herald), the
three-year-old monster is far larger and heavier than his breeds standard
200lb. limit. Hercules owner Mr. Flynn says that Hercules weight is natural
and not induced by a bizarre diet: "I fed him normal food and he just
grew".... and grew... and grew... and grew.
Here's one Cesar won't roll!! http://launch.nova1069.com.au/photos.../118/5069.aspx |

| Re: Hercules ROFL, that photo is NOT Hercules!!! It's a Photoshopped NEO http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/hercules.asp
This is what an English Mastiff looks like. This is Orson, a St. Patricks Mastiff.

| Re: Hercules It's not that bad, my guy ate 7-8 cups of quality food, but he was young and still growing. Neo's are smaller than English by around 40 lbs. I know many full grown English that eat around 6 cups per day to maintain their weight. |

| Re: Hercules Here's a pic!
I will say this, they are VERY cute, but Neo's ARE NOT for everyone. They have very strong personalities and are prone to same sex aggression and resource gaurding. They takea great deal of socializing and because of their size can cause a great deal of damage. In countries with BLS, they are classified with Pits.

| Re: Hercules From the looks of them, the English Mastiff must be a foot and a half higher than the GSD and outweigh him by 50-75 pounds-a lot of dog!! |

| Re: Hercules Minimum height per the standard is 30" at the whithers for a male, 29" for female. My boy was 31" and 150lbs at one year. The other Mastiff, which is Sajack, not Orson, is 32" and around 220 if I remember correctly. Orson is 34" and I believe weighs 240. You can see him here: http://www.stpatricksmastiffs.com/ He is the VERY first dog you see and NO, that's NOT a photoshop! My hope is to have one of his grandbabies, can't get a pup from him because he's been retired.
A typical Neo male is around 29" and 150 lbs full grown. |

| Re: Hercules LOL, they require a 54" kennel. I'll show you some cute puppies if you want, I just have to go get the pics. They are a litter of EM we have being fostered in rescue right now that re 2 1/2 weeks old. Here's the little boy I fell in love with being held by one of our volunteeers. |

| Re: Hercules Now, that is one big dog!! His head looks three times the size of the girl behind him. I don't think a Shetland pony is much smaller. No rollovers for that boy. I never knew there were such big dogs like that.
People that have dogs this size need to be sure there are always another human being around because it a dog the size of Orson were in need of a trip to the vet and couldn't get into the car himself, you're not going to get him in there alone...unless you had a wheel barrow. |

| Re: Hercules I couldn't find the one of Orson standing but, I did watch the video of "Bubba" and checked out some of the girls and boys she's posted. My, I'll say again, some big dogs.
BTW-Is there such a thing as a "miniature" Mastiff?

| Re: Hercules They are beautiful dogs - they look so majestic. I love that photo of Orson on the sofa - not quite all on with kitty too. Do you have to be really careful with exercise when they are pups being big slow growers? Those Neo puppies are adorable. |

| Yes, as with any giant breed, low protien diets and limited exercise as pups to prevent problems. Normal play is fine, but you have to limit walking. Quote:

| Re: Hercules I love mastiffs. When I saw that first picture of the horse and the dog I just about fell off my chair!!! I think it is hilarious when people doctor pictures like that. A guy at my school tried to pass of a picture of himself with a rottweiller that he had photoshopped in. I figured it was fake because the rotties head (it was a fully grown adult) came up to his knee and there were bits of green around its feet.....he was inside a house with white carpets. Oh and he is about 5 foot 5 inches tall!!! Needless to say he didn't like me very much after that....oh well for him! |
