Exclamation ALERT!!! AR Protest TOMORROW: Harrisburg, PA

This came across a dog show list I belong to:

Permission to cross post:
Nina Shaeffer of the Pennsylvania Dog Federation has informed us
that there will be a protest on Friday at the dog show in Harrisburg
by Tammy Grimes and her cohorts from Dogs Deserve Better. These are
the same people who have gone into people's yards and taken dogs
stating the dogs have been abused. Presently Ms Grimes will stand
trial in Altoona, PA for dog snatching.

It is imperative that you not leave your dogs unattended at any time
and I would strongly suggest that you not leave them unattended at
any point during the weekend. These people are looking to cause
trouble and let's not allow them to use our dogs to do it.

Their "scheduled" protest is on Friday from 9:30am to 12:30pm but I
can tell you they are probably there to cause problems for us all
weekend.

Stay alert, keep the dogs safe.

I have a perfect job for the ARs (peta, hsus, Tammy Grimes etccc..):
Heaven forbid there is another pet food contamination, but if there is any question, these folks should be forced to taste test.

Hey thanks! My mentor will be showing there this weekend. I sent her and another lady your post via e-mail.

I'm sure they probably already know, but in case they didn't I had to tell them.

Well, I went ahead and called them both. They did not know about the protest, so I'm glad that you posted this.

Wish I lived closer, the judges were ok in Rottweilers.
Maybe you can get a "blow by blow" report from them.

Re: ALERT!!! AR Protest TOMORROW: Harrisburg, PA

I would probably be considered one of those "animal rights folks." I don't eat any meat or wear fur and I, in some ways, support PETA. You have to understand that these people really really care about animals. Theres some that actually make sense and then there are the fanatical people that go crazy about every little thing. It's like that with every belief system. The concerning thing about these dog shows are that the people showing their dogs are forcing them into it. It's one thing for a dog to jump up and actually run to the car when you mention going to a show and it's another to have to pull it out the door and into the show ring. I doubt many dog lovers would do that to their dogs but for the few that do, it really isn't right and it is something to be concerned about. No dog is meant to sit there and get it's fur cut in odd designs and brushed for hours just so it can get a title. If the dog loves it and actually wants to be there then that's what it's all about. If it hates it then I really hope it's owners wouldn't force it into the show ring like that.

Have you ever tried to force a dog to do anything? You can't make a dog run around a ring, or force them to do agility.

If a dog was unhappy or unhealthy, they would not show well. Thusly, the owner/handler would not show them.

PETA is fanatical and silly.

Re: ALERT!!! AR Protest TOMORROW: Harrisburg, PA

Snowshow-
True, it would probably be impossable but people that think something like "showing dogs is abusive or isn't right" don't like to listen to anything else but what they agree with. I think that most dogs that show like it, they find it fun and they like the attention. Anything like agility could only be done if the dog loved it. I don't disagree with that at all. I just think that the people againts it are misinformed but that doesn't mean they're crazy for thinking the way they do. I'm sure they have some reason for believing what they do.

Taking animals from peoples back yards is completly crazy though and I don't agree with that at all. I actually never heard about Tammy Grimes and I live pretty close to PA. I hope she gets in trouble for what she's doing, that's really wrong to go stealing peoples dogs just because of something you believe is right.

PETA does some stupid things but they're making a huge difference. A lot less "famous" people are wearing fur because of the things PETA have been finding about fur farms and that means less people are buying fur cuz it's not "the in thing" anymore. Atleast they're trying to make a difference, like trying to inform people about how dogs are being inhumanly killed and used for fur and food in other countries.

I wear fur and leather I eat meat, any PETA person who comes up and throws paint on me will be very sorry.

The reason famous people quit wearing fur is out of fear. Any one who causes people to live in fear is a terrorist. I have no respect for them.

Re: ALERT!!! AR Protest TOMORROW: Harrisburg, PA

Okay that's your own oppinion. I'm not a killer, some people like to eat meat and don't care that an animal had to die for it. If you like meat so much I'm sure that if you ended up stranded u'ed rather eat yur dog then go look for a couple leaves. I'ed take the later or let myself starve. Honestly I'm one of those people that don't like others to force there opinions on me. I'm that way with all my beliefs and I would never do that to someone else. Not everyone goes out and throws paint on someone wearing fur. I think it's stupid. An animal died for that so it's just taking away what that animal was killed for. Don't jump at me because I agree with a few things PETA does. I'm not about to sit out on a streat corner wearing fur and smear blood on myself as some example of animal cruility or sum BS like that. I just don't eat meat or wear fur. I like leather belts and if I had to I'ed eat a chicken in a second cuz they're nasty and I used to get pecked by them when my family had them. So I'm not the perfect example of a PETA person and I wouldn't want to b.
You wear fur then talk about your love for dogs. I think most of the people on here are against breeding because the dog end up in shelters and get killed. Well if you get your fur from china then it's most likely an example of the dogs you love so much. You care about dogs then you go and wear something like them...maybe a fox. That's sweet. Or you wear something else...either way it was a living thing with feelings. It's one thing to kill for the need of it. Like the need of fur to stay warm but we don't need it anymore. I'm not going to argue about it... that's just my view on things.
Another thing, didn't your parents teach you manners? I prefer the paper over the owl thanks and I always have loved log cabins. I'm not gonna take saving nature over confort I'm to materalistic. I just do my best to be as good to nature as it is to me.

Re: ALERT!!! AR Protest TOMORROW: Harrisburg, PA

No, my fur comes from American ad Canadian sources, I'm WELL aware of what goes on in China and buy as little as possible that is manufactured there.

As far as my love of Dogs, hat has NOTHING to do with what I wear and eat. I believe in RESPONSIBLE breeding and the elimination of Puppy mills and BYBs via liscensing requirements that include health testing and a minimum of 2 yr. Genetic health warrenty on the dogs sold as well as requiring the breeder to take back an unwanted pet and rehome it.

As far as attacking you, I wasn't, I was attacking an organization that condones the use of assault, theft, and bullying to make people conform to it's idea of the wolrd. PETA started years ago doing good work on making people aware of the cruel treatment of lab animals, then allowed extreamists to take over the organization.

The people posted about here are committing criminal acts. They should all be locked away, but, because these are dogs, instead of children, they will get a slap on the wrist and seent on their way. THAT outrages me.

hard line attitudes are dangerous...whether pro or con...I have no respect for AR folks either, but equalizing their hate with hate of our own does not do the animals any good...just makes us all bicker back and forth.

Re: ALERT!!! AR Protest TOMORROW: Harrisburg, PA

Obviously you aren't aware of the TRUE AR agenda...peta and hsus and the like.

Their mission on this planet is to ERADICATE THE OWNERSHIP AND BREEDING OF ALL ANIMALS. PERIOD. That includes dogs and cats and the responsible breeding thereof. The belief is that man "enslaves" the poor dogs....yeah right. And that all animals should live free and die free.

And for the record, I LOVE DOGS. Dogs were put on this planet for companionship and to assist man. Cows, pigs and chickens are for FOOD AND SURVIVAL. NOt intended to be pets (tho I raised some of both as a kid).
Big difference. Every animal on this planet has a purpose.

These people are terrorists....the FBI has already classified several AR groups as such....I hope these idiots make the mistake of trying to mess with the wrong exhibitors dogs....dog show people aren't stupid or cruel. We are WELL AWARE of those that are against us....and believe me, anyone that attempts to "free" one of my "poor mistreated doggies", will have a date with the emergency room.

Re: ALERT!!! AR Protest TOMORROW: Harrisburg, PA

I agree. They should be locked away just like anyone else that thinks it's okay to go against the law just to prove something. It worked in some cases like slavery and womens rights but honestly I think it's digsuting that people think they have the right to steel someone dog just becuase they think they know what it better for it. I think it's disgusting how many stupid people have become part of something that is working for a greater good in the enviroment. People take things to far and then give everyone else that believes in that same thing a bad name. I hope that they do get more then just a slap on the wrist. It shouldn't matter wether it's a car, a child, or a dog. They still took someone else's property wich is deff illigal. If it comes down to it then people should make a petition and get them put away for as long as they can.
I'm sorry if I offended you, it just gets me mad when people stereotype based on just a few peoples actions and not the actual cause and what it's about. Theres raily anything good said on the news and in the newspapers so anything about groups like PETA is based on the bad and never the good. Just like with breeders and anything else with that. Theres always good people working for a cause and the bad people that give it a bad name.

It was not a hardline attitude, it was a staement of fact. What I wear and eat has nothing to do with how I feel about animals, and if someone assaults me because of it they are in trouble.

Then the good people need to be rid of the bad and condemn their actions. When they don't they are complacent in those actions and just as much to blame.
