Re: Naming Help!

Is there anyway that you can wait until 8 weeks to bring the puppy home? 6 weeks is too young to be taken from their mother. In a lot of places it's actually illegal to sell puppies before 8 weeks of age. They really NEED to be with their mother and littermates until at least 8 weeks to learn doggy manners and in order to be mentally/emotionally ready to go to a new home. Especially with a large, powerful mix of breeds like the Rottweiler and Pitbull, you really want them to learn bite inhibition and other stuff from their mom and littermates. Humans can't provide that training in the same way.

Also, both Pitbulls and Rottweilers are more prone to getting Parvo than most breeds, so be very careful not to take your puppy to dog parks or anywhere to meet other dogs, or where other dogs frequent until AFTER 16 weeks when he's had the full set of puppy shots.

Of your names I like Enzo.

Re: Naming Help!

Congrats on your new pup.
As the above Poster pointed out you would have a much better socialised and a happier puppy if you left him with his Mum and siblings for at least another two weeks.
The perfect name will pop into your head after you spend a bit of time with him. It's like a Eureka moment

Re: Naming Help!

why is pup leaving mom so early? pup needs mom still for a few wks at the minimum. I would name it Jaz or zooks, Jaz means mighty one in celt, Zooks means trustworthy

Shalva will become famous soon enough
Re: Naming Help!

ok folks can we stop with the name suggestions right now......

the fact is that this puppy is tooooooo young to leave its mother..... a puppy learns a great deal from its mother the last two to three weeks..... important things like bite inhibition and stuff ...... so to take a puppy of a breed like a rottie and a pit mix and then take the pup so early that they can't learn these important temperment type things is a really serious problem.....

picking out a name is the least of the worries right now....

that puppy needs to stay with its mother for at least another 2 weeks.....

I totally agree. Those 2 breeds, it would be dangerous if they didnt learn that biting hurts others.

Re: Naming Help!

I COMPLETELY agree...I totally understand your concern. But the point is that they are going to lie to the ppl and take them to the pound/humane society...so I'm going to save one of the puppies from that. I have a good amount of experience plus all my time to spend with him and i understand im not like his mother, but either way he is being taken away so i'm saving him from the harsh pound. I wanted to take the whole litter but i just cant afford it...and if i did that i would try to get the mommy too lol...but any suggestions on what to do to help it at his young age, please help me out, im ALWAYS willing to take suggestions!

And THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for ur concern!

Re: Naming Help!

My neighbors just got a Rottie, they named him Axel, I thought that was really cool. I also like Ace and Artemis though you will probably call him Art or Artie--I also like Panza or Derek....
