Crosspost- VERY URGENT*****

Please crosspost for HELP!

Cage #7 Greyhound/Shepherd mix male, owner surrender available NOW.
Go to www.loraincounty.us/dogs to see his photo

This dog was supposedly turned in because it just got too big for the
family. The dog is 6 years old, neutered and the family gave the pound
the vet records.

The dog is also supposedly good with kids, cats and other dogs.

If anyone can help this dog, I can get help with pull and transport if
needed. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!

If you can help this dog, please do so IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT WAIT. This is very urgent as this is a high-kill shelter (they gas the dogs) and this dog is running out of time.
Thanks guys!

I think there is a girl on BC rescue who *might* be able to pull him, but I haven't asked her- she's just the one who posted him.

i hate posts like this. I cant stand it, not sure why I even clicked on this link cause I knew what it was gonna be.

I could go to the dog pound right now and fall in love with every dog there, they all need to be rescued. But the truth is, its not gonna happen.

I have to force myself to not focus on those dogs who are gonna die every day, cause if i do it will drive me insane.

Edit: I went and re-read Cassie;s topic. they gas the dogs???? OMG now im wishing i never read this topic.

So if someone who comes across this topic decides to rescue the dog...would you still say you wished she never posted it? You may not like the post, and it IS always heartbreaking to see this happen. However, there is a chance that BECAUSE Cassie posted this the right person will read it and be able to help.

It breaks my heart that I cannot rescue this dog...but by spreading the word, all you can do is help!

Re: Crosspost- VERY URGENT*****

Tirluc, I suspect growth hormones - maybe from Barry Bonds' dealer.

Do you suppose they went right out and got a smaller dog?

The dog didn't get too big for the family. The family got too preoccupied for the dog.

It would be wonderful if someone with a soul would adopt this dog but, honestly, the dog would probably be better off PTS than to live with a family that could give her up so easily.

But the point IS is that this dog needs outta there and FAST.

Re: Crosspost- VERY URGENT*****

Yes! they ALL need to get outta there!

This is just one dog at that shelter - and its great that one person with a heart took an intrest in this dog and made this topic.

But what about the dog in the cage next to that one? The unlucky dog who has no sponser, nobody to post a topic, nobody who cares.

At a dog pound, with lets say- 50 dogs, 45 of which are gonna be gassed in the next 3 days, and one dog there is lucky enough to have someone who cares enough to post a topic to try and save it!

I hope you see my point. THEY ALL NEED SAVING!

they get gassed there?? holy crap.

I swear if you were to bring that dog to me, I would adopt it and have 6 dogs in a van. (assuming it would get along, but im pretty good with working with dogs so its quite possible)

I hope this dog gets saved. Because its hard enough to live with the deaths of those that have nobody who cares. Its even harder when I have to see a picture of the dog that may die in a few days.

Re: Crosspost- VERY URGENT*****

I understand that there are many dogs in shelters and that they ALL need out....and I can't make threads for all of them because if I did, I wouldn't have time for my own dogs. I just saw this guy on BC rescue, and thought it was sad. Maybe he still has a chance if people cross post and keep trying for him. Then we can move onto another dog, and give him/her another chance.

Re: Crosspost- VERY URGENT*****

You save dogs one-at-a-time. That's what you do. If you start thinking about all the dogs you can't save, you're liable to throw up your hands and say, "What's the use?"

There is absolutely no reason for me to get a dog anywhere else than from a shelter. When we adopted Esther, there were at least a half-dozen dogs I would have brought home in a heartbeat. I can agonize about the ones I didn't adopt, or the tens of thousands of shelter dogs I've never seen, or I can thank God that Esther and I found each other.

I completely agree RonE! You can't possibly save every single dog by yourself...but saving one dog is doing what you can to help the problem. Every dog I have owned (or had as part of my family) has been a rescue. If I could save more then I would, but right now I have Bridgette and that's what I have done to help.

I only plan to rescue and it really is silly to feel guilty about every other dog. It makes me sad to think about all the dogs that need saving and that will be PTS because they don't find a home, but you can only go on a dog to dog basis.

And like you said before some of these dogs will be better of being PTS than being in a family that doesn't treat them right.

Re: Crosspost- VERY URGENT*****

ya- i guess at least your trying. giving one dog a chance is better then nothing.

I know im not very popular on this board because my opinions are strong, and i offend people with my opinions, and I know that.

But Im sick of dogs dying every day in the pound, im sick of people breeding dogs for profit just to make money, and then they lie and pretend to breed for good reasons (BS -I dont see a lotta non-profit breeders, do you?)

In this day and age, when we are KILLING so many dogs every day, BREEDING IS WRONG! and i dont care what breed we are talking about.

What gives ANYONE the RIGHT to breed?

Oh I guess breeders just woke up one day and said "oh gee, i think I will breed goldens" well screw that! I dont care how fancy a breeders website is, THEY ARE IN IT FOR THE MONEY! and they dont care about all the dogs that are killed every day. Oh- you dont think dogs from a breeder end up in the pound? well guess again. Once a puppy become a dog an amazing tranformation occurs - the dog becomes almost worthless. Its just another dog that needs a home that will end up dead if it does not find one.

ALL breeders want to convince you that they are not part of the problem, that they are "responsible" and its ok then. But thats BS and anyone with a hair of intelligence can figure that out.

I would ask any breeder " why does your life have to revolve around breeding?' cant they find something else to to do with their lives?

ya- heres the result of their breeding so they can make money:

Understand this. Breeders are in it for the money. plain and simple. They will try and convince you otherwise, but thats just because its in their best intrest for making a profit.

I hate breeders- i really do. Like they cant find something else to do with their lives that does not involve dogs? But the easy money is too hard to resist i guess.

Re: Crosspost- VERY URGENT*****

Okay vanbum...

1)This isn't the right thread to talk about breeding.

2) Are you saying that rescuing one dog at a time is not helping? Of course it is! If you can rescue one dog, then rescue one dog...yeah many more will die or not find homes, but we might as well save all we can?!

3) Even though this thread was not about breeding, I'll take the bait. How can you say ALL breeding is profit based? Professional (meaning reputable breeders that want to better the working/show dog breeds that we have strived over the years to make healthier...) breeders DO NOT MAKE MONEY OFF THE LITTERS!! How many times do breeders have to tell you that? YES, anyone making money off of a litter probably isn't a good breeder....but reputable breeders spend more money on having and raising the litter than they do on the puppies they sell.

Reputable breeders ALWAYS find homes (or keep) some of their puppies...and they put these adoptees under CONTRACTS! These people (unless the puppies are show quality) HAVE to have their puppies spayed/neutered, they have to get their shots, they are not allowed to re-home the dogs. They are under legal contract so these puppies are safe.

None of these puppies will end up dead or in a shelter so, no it's not adding to the over-population problem.

Anyone who is breeding for money, is a completely different story...i.e. bybs, puppymills, designer breeders...

Re: Crosspost- VERY URGENT*****

It sounds to me like you believe exactly what the breeders want you to believe. ya they just woke up one day and said to themselves "Hmm i love goldens so much that I want to share them with everyone, and I will do this with money out of my own pocket and I will make sure they all go to respinsible homes"

Thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard. Believe that if you wish.

you have not answered my question. what gives them the right?

Are you trying to tell me that those dogs in those barrels are less valuable then a purebread dog thats being sold by a breeder?

Quote:

Oh well excuse me - i guess its much more important to do that then it is to stop pet overpopulation.

Im sick of breeder excuses, because thats all they are.

Every day, thousands of dogs are dragged into a room, held down and killed, and YOU want to "better the working/show breeds" ????

Oh, silly me. I must be nuts for my opinion.
