| A guide dog attacked and why some people should not own bully breeds! Saw this on my UK forum and thought i'd share with you all.
A blind lady and her guide dog Neela the Lab were attacked by a bully breed of some sort whilst at a train station in London.
The powerless woman could do nothing and neither could the prick who owned the dog as you will see! (this shouldn't be watched by sensitive viewers) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8368548.stm
Thankfully Neela has made a full recovery and is back doing what she does best, guide.
Its incidents like this which make me see things from a different perspective and understand why some people are scared of my breeds and similar ones,i hope irresponsible bully ownership where i live comes to a halt and we can show people the many positives to owning a bully before they are banned here under BSL |

| Re: A guide dog attacked and why some people should not own bully breeds! That is so sad. I'm glad the lab made a full recovery. It always just boils down to the owner. Any dog, whether it be a tiny one or big one, is dangerous in the wrong hands. It'll always happen, idiots are born everyday... |

That news story is a plee to get people to hand him in so hopefully they will. |

Don't put the dog to sleep, the owner. And he shouldn't have any other breed of dog either. |

| Re: A guide dog attacked and why some people should not own bully breeds! The reminds me of one time when I was little and we were playing outside with our golden retriever and some dalmatian ran up and jumped on my dog. It was really scary and we were screaming. Then our neighbor came running out and he grabbed the dalmatian up by the scruff and the dog went to hollering and let go of my dog. Then he pushed the dalmatian away and it ran off. He didn't even have to hit that dog much less beat on it. That man in the video was beating and kicking that pitbull and it wouldnt let go. Don't that mean they are more dangerous than other dogs? If they are that hard to control after they get after something I mean. |

| Re: A guide dog attacked and why some people should not own bully breeds! Shalonda, a properly raised, trained and responsibly owned bully breed would not have to get into that situation in the first place. I know plenty of dog aggressive dogs of all types who's owners have good control of their dogs and don't put them in situations where they may aggress like that.
Poor woman, poor dog...that man shouldn't have a dog period. |

The thing about DA is it can be managed. This whole incident could have been prevented with a LEASH or just not taking the dog to such a public place! He could have kept the dog on a muzzle in public. He could have been prepared with citronella spray, etc. There is a lot you can do to keep a DA dog. It is much harder with an HA dog.
ETA: You guys can see the video? I can't. |

Oh, and I couldn't watch it either...maybe it's better that I couldn't. Can't stand to watch those kinds of things... |

| Re: A guide dog attacked and why some people should not own bully breeds! THAT is just messed up! Looked like the dog did have a leash but WTF man. That poor blind lady just wandering away then no one there after dude did get his dog off the guide dog. That dog musta been terrified! (not to mention the poor lady).
All I can say is dude hitting and kicking his dog does nothing except heighten the attacking dog.
Wow... |

That guy knew his dog was aggressive to other dogs too. As soon as he saw that lab he moved to try to block the dog before it even moved. So the question is why did he have this dog in public without a muzzle?

| Re: A guide dog attacked and why some people should not own bully breeds! OMG...WOW..just wow! Watching that clip made me realize that I have NEVER seen a dog attack before...that was a straight, flat-out mauling the lab took from the pit, & the pit took from the guy..Amazing.
I feel pretty certain that the guy will be found..the close ups of him are fairly decent, &, besides, someone has to have seen either him or the dog before. Hes going to have to answer ALOT of questions too when he does get caught..the FIRST one that I would ask him, although, would be "WHY DID YOU DROP THE LEASH ON THE GROUND JACKA$$"???
Glad the labby made it out ok..can't help but wonder how the other dogs ribs are doing?? I could have MAYBE taken one of those guys punches, let alone one of his kicks. |

It looks like he rounded that corner and sat down something for the dog, layed down the leash, and started to make a phone call? |

| Since you specialize in dog aggression disorders, and we have all seen the same video, I'm sincerely interested in knowing how you would of tried to get the attacking dog off of the guide dog? Quote: |

| Curious as to how you knew it was a "pit"? |

Doubt if it was the right thing to do but it did work.
Was all I could think of at the moment. |
