What does a healthy Border Collie typically weigh?

I am very curious as to how much a pure bred BC weighs, as it gives me some indication of how much other breeds play a part in my dogs weight and stature. My dog looks like a BC however he is a mutt, BC and Blue Heeler and Staffy (I personally cant see staffy, but the vet insists, due to the brindle colouring on his belly) my two, three or four year old (according to the very reputable vet) dog, being fully grown, weighs 18.6 kg which is 40.9 pounds. Is this around the size of a fully grown Border Collie?

My Meik weighs just under 50lbs, so yup, i'd agree with your vet on this one. Since there is really no standard for BC's it could vary a bit either way.

check out AKC.org for your breed specification. They usually give approximate weights in the details.

forget AKC standards....a Border Collie can weigh anywhere from 25-75 lbs, w/ 35-40 being an average.....i have 4; my male weighs in at about 60 right now but he needs to lose a few--his weight when he was younger was 50-55, all my girls weigh right around 40 lbs give or take....

do you have a pic of your dog that you can post?
