Exclamation Sam had some sort of strange attack?? HELP!

Yesterday after coming inside Sam had some sort of strange attack/episode. He started making these weird noises almost like hiccups (but not since I've seen him hiccup before and its nothing like this, I just call them that because there is nothing else that is comparable!) but at a very fast rate (like 2 per second). He was breathing very quickly in between the hiccups but he looked very distressed during the episode. He was licking his nose and mouth after every hiccup and he was all roached up. He was also burping and passing gas quite a lot. His stomach wasn't really swollen but it felt hard to the touch and was making a lot of odd noises.

Poor guy was exhausted and couldn't sleep. This has happened once before but it lasted only 5 minutes. This time it lasted several hours and was still going on this morning. He's eating and drinking normally and was even playful this morning. When the episodes happen, he gets very scared and just sort of tries to curl up and keeps changing positions to get comfortable. He didn't injest anything strange and the only thing in common between this episode and the last is that he had just come back from a walk and it was rather cold outside.

I've made a vet appointment but I just want to hear if anyone else has had this happen. It may help me tell the vet about it. The first time he had an episode we brought him to the vet but it had passed so she was able to conclude what it could have been. It's really hard to describe the symptoms too since I'm not even really sure what he's doing! PLEASE HELP!

That's what I first thought of too! It had me VERY worried. I called the E-vet (in my area you can call and describe the issue and the vet or vet tech can tell you if it can wait) and the vet said that since he's had the episode before and was fine afterwards it probably isn't bloat. Also, he's a Yorkshire Terrier and he said bloat is very rare with them. I'm still suspicious so I booked a normal vet appointment as soon as I could get in.

The other thing that comes to mind might be something up his nose, like a foxtail or a piece of grass- swallowing a lot of air trying to dislodge it would explain the upset stomach.
