Caution: Dog can't hold his licker.

Okay, I have come to the conclusion that Gizmo has a licking obsession. If you go to pet him, he will slobber and lick your hand to death..it was cute before, but not so much as he gets older! He knows the 'leave it' command, and listens to it well, and won't lick your hand, but will resort to licking something close by. What is up with that?

I think Papillons just tend to lick. I know when Nia is really happy that she sees someone (my friends, whoever that comes to our house) she will wag like crazy and you can see her tongue darting out of her mouth continuously. Really reminds me of a frog trying to catch flies lol.

But it doesn't sound like she licks as much as Gizmo. The only object mine likes to lick is the sofa. Especially in the cracks.

I think it's just a trait of the breed and a bit exaggerated by yours lol.

Re: Caution: Dog can't hold his licker.

My new girl Kaya has a problem with her licker...

It all starts innocently enough when she starts by just licking her paw laying on the sofa.

Then halfway off her paw and halfway on the sofa, next thing you know she licking her way across the sofa, and then the pillow, until she licks the whole surface...

She'll do the same thing with my leg sometimes when she's laying beside me..

lol, Gizmo ALWAYS has to be licking something..Even at the DP, he will lick the fence and then pee on it, which just grosses me out and is why I don't want him licking my hands anymore..lmao..He's a weirdo..

EW! Doesn't it have other dog's pee on it?? Why would he want to lick that lol.

I still let Nia lick my face. Maybe I should stop......

I really think it's a breed predisposition. All of mine are lickers to some extent but Summer especially is obsessive about it. She will lick your arm/hand for hours non-stop. If you try to difuse it she will start licking the couch or something close at hand. If there's nothing then she'll lick the air.

Mia isn't SO bad but she's still a bit licky.

Re: Caution: Dog can't hold his licker.

Nicky(my dachsie) has obsessive compulsive licking disorder Drives me nuts. She will lick her paws and when she gets tired of that she will lick Mojo(my chihuahua), then she will move on to the cats, when she's done with them they look like wet rats.LOL Then she will find her ball and lick that, then it starts all over again...... Thankfully she doesn't lick me.

Mojo is a needy licker, he only licks when he wants attention, but he was a rescue so I guess he has his reasons......
