Question How to break free of the prong collar?

If this should be moved to the training section, please do. But there are more responses in this section.

When Bella was in her training class at about 9 mos old, the trainer turned me on to the prong collar. She had a tendancy to pull and go where she wanted to. I wasn't comfortable with it, but it made a HUGE difference! 2 and a half years later, I still have to use it. As soon as the prong comes off and the flat is used, it's all fun and games for her!

I have tried on our walks to switch the collars so she doesn't notice, but she does. If she's wearing her prong she doesn't try to pull...just walks right next to me - but as soon as I switch she is ahead of me and pulling, ignoring my heel commands.

Is there any way to break free from the prong? I still don't like using it. It was supposed to be a "training tool", but now it seems more like a bad addiction.
