Is it a "Beagle thing"?

So, Bella and I just got back from the dog park (should have known I'd jinx myself by posting in a "dog park" thread today).

Everything seemed cool so we went in. But I should know whenever there's a Beagle present there's gonna be trouble.

There are four different Beagles w/different owners that I know of and they all seem to have issues getting along w/others...even the old, half crippled one (poor thing!)

Today started out okay...Bella was running around, playing ball and the Beagle there was snapping at all the other dogs that came near and getting yelled at by the owner (I know we should have left as soon as I noticed it). Then he was barking (well, baying) through the fence at another dog. Bella - being the busy-body she is - trotted over to see what the ruckus was all about. The Beagle swung around before Bella was even next to him and went after her....then a fight started. First real fight I had to break up - scared the hell outta me, but I kept my cool and I kept Bella cool while the owner took her dog away.

Of course Bella was the "bad guy" because by the time everyone noticed what was going on, Bella had the Beagle on his back.

Are most Beagles difficult at the DP? They're bred to work in a pack as a hunting dog...makes no sense to me. Maybe it's just New Hampshire beagles? All I know is I'm NOT going into the park again when one is there.

Life's funny like that. No, not all beagles are like that. You just met a bad batch. Evenryone usually has a certain breed they have issues with. Myself, for instance, I had the most trouble with border collies and goldens. But that's mostly just a coincidence.

The beagles at work (dog daycare) are not aggressive, but can be a bit . . uh, much for a lot of other dogs. They come on strong, lol.

Hmm I think you've just met a bunch of not so greatly behaved beagles. I've met a couple beagles around here but they're great! They were very friendly.

They can be a bit excited but Nia doesn't mind since she gets really really excited too. They can be a bit loud in baying but not aggressive I don't think. Not the ones I've met at least.

I don't think beagles are a snappy breed?
