Actually, the first time I showed my mom Basil's petfinder ad, she said he looked like a corgi! Granted, he was laying down in the pic, and it was head on, so you couldn't really see his body. I think she was basing it off of the big ears and facial markings Keep in mind when I adopted him he wasn't in the best of shape, so he had basically no ear fringes and his fur was a lot shorter than it is now. |

Maybe, uhh.... the big ears? The color, sort of?
Though we all shouldn't really be too surprised, the things that some people say when it comes to identifying dogs.... I mean, this dog was called a Giant Schnauzer once. By a vet student. No joke. |

| Re: Do you like my corgis? I'm still baffled by how many people mistake Basil for a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
I know he's big for a pap, but I'm totally not seeing a resemblance XD |

| Re: Do you like my corgis? Well......I can kind of see the ears resembling corgis or at least some mixes of Paps I've seen were questioned as either Pap or Corgi mixes... but body shape, size, fur......definitely not!!
And Nargle..I guess I could see someone calling Basil a Cavalier because of his perfectly center white blaze and size! But the ears...no.... But they do have kind of similar coats (single coated). And a not so nicely bred Cavalier could have a much longer muzzle.
But then there are so many people claiming their dogs are something and they're really not that other people start to get confused. Like a few people around my area know this maltipoo but the owner claims he's a purebred maltese so now that whenever those people see white poodles or white poodle mixes they think it's a maltese. Yesterday 2 purebred maltese came around to play and a few people said wow, your maltese is different! they have a straight long coat, are they mixes? |

| Re: Do you like my corgis? Lo.. That's to silly!
I get asked what breed Porter is a lot. I thought pretty much everyone knows what a rottweiler is. I've also been asked if he's a lab. |

I guess a poorly bred Cavalier might have a longer muzzle, but that's still a bit of a stretch!) and the fact that Basil is way daintier than a Cavalier should be! Most Cavaliers are a lot heavier boned, right?
But then again whenever Basil gets excited to meet new people, his ears go flat against his head, so it might look like he's got drop ears. SORT OF. XD
Lol, I dunno. |

| Re: Do you like my corgis? The thing is, a lot of people have never seen/heard of a Papillon before so they resort to whichever breeds they do know. As long as they're the same color, similar size...they'll just go for it! |
