| katie and I wrestled alot when she was young and play tug of war. Alot of people say that builds aggression but I've never once seen an ounce of agression out of this dog. She's great. |

| I play tug of war with my dog too - it's a lot of fun. I don't think it makes her more aggressive though. We also play ball and frisbee sometimes. |

| Prince and I play fetch the apple. Hehe...he has a ball chasing it and bringing it back and then in the end he gets to eat it. He loves apples! Bear and I wrestle but not for long. That monster of a dog just doesn't know his own strength! |

| I play tag with Hazel. It's her favorite game. She loves to have someone chase her, so I'm "it" most of the time. We also play tug (I've also heard that you shouldn't do this, but I've never seen it make a dog aggressive) and fetch.
Malone's very favorite game is fetch. He is quite athletic and can jump really high. He likes to catch the ball before it ever hits the ground. We've been thinking about building him a flyball box. I think that he would be really good at it. |

| I always like to use a remote control car to take my dog for a walk. He loves to chase the car. We go to a deserted lot and I let him run. It's more fun for both of us than a simple walk. |

| Re: anyone play games with your dogs???? We do fetch, tug, chase the dog and chase the human. All those games have rules, MY rules. Maxwell adores his lunge whip - he chases a toy [old sock] tied to the business end. He would love to be a crazy frisbee dog but I won't let him do flips and all that except by accident. We pick up toys and trash in the house for cookies. He is a good buddy. We also do dog agility. |

| Re: anyone play games with your dogs???? Football and basketball are Saku's faves. He even uses his front paws to 'kick' the ball! Then he'll pick it up in his mouth and run off... Then it turns into a game of tag. |

| Re: anyone play games with your dogs???? We play the usual; fetch, frisbee, agility stuff, wrestling/rough-housing etc. My favorite though is hide-n-seek. There are miles of open land behind my house so I let my crew run off leash. As soon as I get the chance (when nobody is looking) I'll hide. Oh my gosh, it is soooo funny when they realize they can't see me! They all go into ultimate panic mode and start running around sniffing the ground trying to pick up my scent. I do this to them every weekend so you think they would get used to it by now. They usually find me but one time they couldn't. I had to finally jump out of my hiding spot to let them know where I was. They were headed for home at full speed. Such mama's babies they are. Especially my GSD. He was all but crying when he couldn't find me. Poor baby.

| Re: anyone play games with your dogs???? Fetch is one of the favorites here. We also play and hide n seek, which Lloyd loves. We play it where we hide, and we also hide toys. Tug of war is also a big favorite. We also play 'who can do it faster', where I give the dogs a command and who ever does it the quickest gets a treat or toy. |

| Re: anyone play games with your dogs???? Well, Lucy LOVES fetch. She will fetch until she throws-up, if we let her. the only thing she wont' fetch is a frisbee.
She also loves to play keep-away with my DH. She loves that. Dodging in and out, avoiding him trying to grab her.
She'll play a little tug-of-war, but she's so very soft-mouthed that she just doesn't get a good grip.
She loves to swim.
She loves agility when we did that for about a year.
Holly likes to wrestle, and also tug-of-war. She hasn't had a real chance to swim, yet, but she adores her doggie pool in the back yard, that she splashes and wades in. |

| Re: anyone play games with your dogs???? Bumping this thread for responses.
I don't have a fenced in yard at the moment (or at all, we have a yard, but it's not fenced) so I can't play tag with my puppy, and she can't fetch (I have tried teaching her). I try to stay away from tug-of-war games because I've heard they can lead to aggression and I'd rather err on the caution. She's not a scent hound, so I don't think "find the treat" would work. I've heard of hide and seek, but if she follows me everywhere, how am I going to hide. I am all out of ideas. Anyone have any? |

| For hide and seek have you tried having somebody else hold her? Or have her in a sit-stay and then call her after you've hid? |

I will try that though in the future. What is the flirt pole? And does learning tricks and commands count as a game? I mean they are getting treats so it should be fun right? I just worried that she gets bored is all. Thanks for the reply. |

| Re: anyone play games with your dogs???? I "wrestle" with my Chihuahuas - it's actually more like them wrestling with my hands, but it's fun! I've tried playing fetch with Dominic but he's not really interested, I tossed the ball, he picked it up and buried it. Anatolians love to dig, lol. Oh well.... He likes to play tug, too. When he was younger and in training I wouldn't do it with him because I didn't want to encourage agression, but now that he's grown and knows the rules it's fine. |
