Re: Does your dog have friends?

Jaylie LOVES all of the dogs at GDA, but I have noticed she picks out some favorites.

All of her siblings, she recognizes, and those are her ULTIMATE favorites, since they were together for seven weeks. And then some of her other friends are Harmony, Harley, and one more from the "H" litter...Can't remember her name, and then she also likes alot of the "F" litter. Fischer, Fievel, and Frank. And then she likes Wissel and Oceana.

Re: Does your dog have friends?

Pedro has three really close friends, and then a few other dogs that he's 'forced' to play with when their owners and I are visiting eachother.

His girlfriend, Dacey, is a 6 year old mini dachshund. She's his best friend. They love to play with eachother.

Secondly is my parent's flat coated retriever, Max. Max turned 17 this year, and doesn't do a whole lot anymore, but Pedro and him still enjoy eachothers company.

Thirdly is Tiger, a clients dog. I house sit for her sometimse, and Tiger gets to come over for sleepovers. Tiger is very nervous of other dogs, and Pedro is one of his only friends.

Re: Does your dog have friends?

The dog park was pretty pathetic at first yesterday! There's usually loads of Bridgette's friends there around 5ish and no one was there! We got there and not a single dog was there except for Bridgette so she was pretty confused lol. She did get a chance to play on the "agility" equipment (there's an a-frame and some tunnels and jumps) that she loves to use. Finally some dogs came...new ones, but they were just GORGEOUS dogs! A beautiful Akita and a very large (and very friendly) Mastiff. After all the waiting Bridgette did for other dogs to arrive she was SCARED, yes scared of these two. They weren't the least bit mean or aggressive and they just left her alone because she kept hiding behind me! It was weird...I just ignored her and she finally went off to play with them. And they say PBs are mean? Pssshh, she is the biggest baby ever...heck she's scared of our newest (5 month old) cat! (Which btw is the funniest thing ever!)

But she also made friends with a retriever names Bogart and a Sheepdog mix named Cricket.

Re: Does your dog have friends?

Natalie seems to make friends with other dogs fairly quickly, although, I feel she might have somewhat of a preference for the smaller dogs. I think Natalie's closest friend was a female Pomaranian that I used to doggy-sit.

Natalie & Angel (Pom) playing:

Natalie with some of her other friends:

Sebastian's only friend is Natalie. He is afraid of most other dogs so he usually either ignores them completely or tries to avoid them if possible.

Re: Does your dog have friends?

We dogsit a dog named Casper. He's a bit grumpy, so he lets Jaylie sniff him, but he won't let her play with him. Jaylie doesn't like him much, so they usually just sit in seperate parts of the house.

Re: Does your dog have friends?

I don't take my dog's to dog parks. We don't have any where I live. So they don't have any friends from there.

Dan's best friend right now is one of our cats named Max. They have taken to sleeping together at night. It's so cute.

As for the puppy, he wants to be friends with all of our animals. Sadly, none of them want to friends with him. He's a little to rough for their liking. I would like to get him a playmate, another dog who liked to play and roughhouse like he does, but I can't really afford another dog right now. So I guess my boyfriend and I are his only friends for the time being.

Aww cute! Bridgette and our 1 year old male cat (Bagheera) are best friends too. The cats have their own room (it's reall the guest room, but they live there) so she gets really excited when they come out to play. Well only Bagheera plays with her. Luna (6 months) is really nervous of the dog 9she's our newest addition to the family)...she's not really scared, but she doesn't like her and will bat at her and hiss...Bridgette is TERRFIED of her..which IMO is hilarious! Just yesterday Luna came out of their room (which she doesn't do much as she's really nervous still) but she got on the sofa near Bridgette and Bridgette (a 60lb medium sized dog) got on the back of the sofa cowering. It was the most pathetic thing I've ever seen and I had to just laugh.

That's hilarious! I always think it's funny when a dog is terrified of a little cat.

Our cat Max has always liked our dogs, with the exception of the puppy. We didn't have the puppy when we got Max (Max is 4 yrs) We had Dan at the time and another dog, Montana. Dan and Montana were older dogs and raised together. Montana passed away in November. Max used to follow them every where. He used to jump up on Montana's back so Montana could carry him around. Sometimes, I think Max believes he is a dog. One of our other cats, Gus, will tolerate Dan, but doesn't really mess with him.

The puppy really likes our outside cat, Freddie. However, Freddie doesn't like him because the puppy tries to play a little too rough with him. I think that eventually they could be friends when the puppy calms down a little.

That's probably true. Although Bridgette will be 3 yrs in August (I am not sure if it's 100% accurate actually) she is very much a puppy. She has only just started getting to the point where Bagheera can be around her and she doesn't HAVE to be playing with him. They actually both love to wrestle with each other...and Bagheera will often play more like a dog than a cat (he's also a lot bigger now) but they can be in the same room and just hanging out. Before now Bridgette has just gone crazy and ALWAYS wants to play...which cats tend not to like very much lol.

Interesting new friends...

So the dog park was fairly uneventful today, and Bridgette was really tired...which was really weird. However, there were some awesome dogs at the park today! And Bridge made some cool new friends.

I don't think I've ever seen so many "rare" (for this park that is) dogs in the park...

Bull Terrier (a tri-color who was just beautiful)
Vizsla (named Maverick...so cute!)
Pembroke Welsh Corgi (an adorable puppy!)

We also saw one of our favorites, an Irish Wolfhound mixe named Ivan. He's a sweetie!

Do you have interesting dogs at your park?

Re: Does your dog have friends?

Cassie's friends consist of my friend's Aussie, and some dogs she met up with a while ago. She is supposedly a BC mix, but she does want to play (we're thinking the other part of her is flat coated retriever). The weird thing is that she met some labs at our park once, and all she did was herd them around....but she hasn't herded a dog since.

We no longer do dog parks because of irresponsible owners around here.
