| Frontline or Plus I am going to order either Frontline or Frontline Plus. The Frontline is cheaper than the Plus. I have noticed the only difference is the Plus also kills Flea eggs. If my dogs do not have fleas right now I am thinking I should just get the Frontline?
What do you guys think? Am I missing something else by not getting the Plus? |

| My vet recommends the Plus. I actually have had better luck with Advantix and it repels mosquitoes too, which is a big plus in Georgia in the summer. |

| You know flea/tick meds is one thing I have never dealt with for any of the dogs I've had. I grew up with my family and our dog in Phoenix where we didn't really have either of these because of the heat, but I think there is more of a risk of that here where we live now. Plus my family and Sandy live in California now too so they have Sandy on Advantix. Is it really more beneficial to have them on some form of this? I'm not worried about paying whatever is needed...do you know what the general price is on it?
(Sorry for totally butting in the thread...but what is the cost difference between Frontline and Frontline Plus?) |

| I do not think advantix protects against the deer tick and that is the one that carries lyme disease. There is not a big difference in price in the frontline and the plus but I just really do not want to waste $$$ if the plus is better for some reason I will pay the extra few bucks. In our home we go through a gallon and a half of milk a day so every $ counts.
In the PetEdge Catalog the prices are
Frontline for dogs up to 22 lbs 6mo supply $51.99
Frontline Plus for dogs up to 22 lbs 6 mo supply $59.99
Advantix 4 month supply for dogs 11-20 lbs $44.00
I am not 100% sure on the tick thing with Advantix it may be Advantage I am thinking of.
We have alot of ticks around here and I think fleas too. If I slip up during the spring summer or fall I am always sorry because I end up finding fleas or ticks. |

| Hmm, well it would be a little helpful if I could shrink Bridgette a bit. I looked at different prices for Frontline and Frontline plus and it looks like the cheapest I'd be paying would be $85.90! Yikes! I'll have to think about if it really is worth it for us. I don't mind paying the price if it's necessary, but I am not sure it is where we live. I worry about ticks here, but we really don't go too many places where she has a chance of ticks or and even less of the chance of fleas. |

| I do not know if ticks or fleas are an issue in Az. I am moving to Florida next year and I know because I lived there before that because the heat and never freezing there fleas are a horrible problem if you do not use something there. I dont know about the ticks there. |

I have lived here for 2 years and I don't think I've even seen a mosquito! It might not be a worry here, I can see why it would be in Florida though. |

It says AZ in the upper left corner there? |

It never really gets above 85 degrees in the summer and the winter is mostly in the negatives...or 40ish degrees. It's like we live in a little cold bubble here in Flagstaff. I grew up in Phoenix where the summers reach a high of 120 degrees! Eww!

| Frontline plus seemed to do absolutely nada last year in preventing/killing fleas. Advantage seemed to do the trick with no problem. |

| Paralysis ticks are a big problem on the east coast of Australia, although I haven't had any in my suburb. I use Advantage on my border collie, she used to always get flea alergy dermatitis every summer, but hasn't had it for all the years she's been on Advantage. I would use Frontline Plus if I were to go into a tick area or one of the paralysis tick collars that last longer than the Frontline plus which has to be re-applied every 2 weeks for the ticks. |

The pacakage said once a month. Maybe it is different depending on where you live. Quote:

Phoenix is way too hot, and Flagstaff is more liberal about most things in general, but most importantly MUCH more dog friendly than the rest of the state. We can take dogs in a lot of stores here and it's more of a hippy town so it's fun! |

| Re: Frontline or Plus My vet recommended K9 Advantix because I take my dogs walking in wooded areas that can get heavy with fleas and ticks. It probably depends on the area you live in as to what the better product would be for your dog. |

| Re: Frontline or Plus Weird, for that flea chart, I put in zip codes for several different cities and the chart looked exactly the same every time... *leery* |

| Re: Frontline or Plus I ended up ordering the Frontline Plus. I figure with my luck by the time I get the stuff they could have fleas and that would mean I need the one that kills the eggs too. |

The mosquitoes used to swarm around Smokey when we would walk in the dog park which has a small lake next to it. With Advantix, no problem. I view this as a double plus, since heartworms come from mosquitoe bites. |
