i'm always getting asked why my cocker is so thin. i tell them that's the way they're supposed to look. most people have only seen overweight cockers.

some people don't even know that's what she is.

the red circle is showing how long her eyelashes are.

i love Pattys. they are beautiful, they are tough as nails, they have the energy to keep up with me...im a big dog person....i prefer big dogs...but to me a patterdale is a big dog. just in a little package. im gonna have to pick your brains about pattys at some point..iffn ya dont mind...

Here's another one I owned (a rescue, and a very sad case- she came to me with an untreated broken leg, and not even tame). She was born in the USA but was of old UK lines.

my dogs are all wolves or wolf mixes.
now let me see here, izzy is black and white moo cow spotted with a curly akita tail. what about that says wolf??
one little boy once asked if she was a goat, where that came from i dont know!

i have never seen a red and white wolf either?
now keno, i can kinda see it there with his coat color, but then what wolf has blue eyes?
and with the huskies people ask me all the time if they can see, becuase blue eyes=blind!

what is really bad is i had a man ask me if they were good fighting dogs, becuase they must be if they have some of that wolf in them!

As I was walking my two blue merles, a lady stops me and says, "You know you can't breed those two together" referring to their color...the other reason I can't breed them together is that they're both neutered males...even after I told her that she kept calling Shiner "she"..."look how submissive she is" as Shiner rolled on his back in front of her...um, notice anything else while "she" is flipped over like that?

I was walking around PetSmart with Odo one afternoon after our puppy class. They were having one of their adoption events, and someone stopped me and asked me what the adoption fee was. I was confused and just answered "I'm not sure, they'd probably know" and gestured to the volunteers with all the shelter dogs.

I walked by as she was talking to the adoption volunteers and the lady pointed at Odo and said "That's the one I was looking at". After she was informed that my dog was not up for adoption, she sighed dramatically and said "Aww, that's a shame, I love Bichons"

Odo is a maltese/poodle mix.

Then there was the guy who kept insisting that my Boston Terrier is a black and white Boxer puppy. He went on and on about how big her paws were and how she was going to be quite a bruiser when she grew up. I just couldn't quite get through to him that she is a Boston Terrier and she'll probably be around 20lbs at most.

Did you buy your toy collie at the mall? I get that one a lot! (Or how much was your toy collie?) Albeit there's an awful pet store there and I wouldn't put it past them to sell 'toy collies or something ridiculous like that.

The question I am asked most often about Alvin is, "What happened to his eye?" I have no problem with that...seems like a natural question to me, and I wonder about it myself. I was once asked it in a strange way, though: "What did you do to his eye?"

I kind of wanted to look around in panic and say, "OMIGOD! I must have dropped it somewhere!"

Back in the potty training phase...

Kit: Goes potty outdoors in a public place.
Me: Making a big deal over it with treats and praise, etc.
Creepy old man: "I wish someone would make a big deal over me when I do that!"
Me: "Go ahead, I'll play along!"

People also mistake Kit for a spaniel a lot. I don't see it at all. A lot of people look at me funny when I say she's a BC mix, because her coloring is all wrong.

I had a lady at the vets office one time freak out because she thought Tanner was morbidly obese. He was sitting my lap enjoying being petted, and I guess she saw the short legs and asumed that he was suppose to be a small dog. She kept asking me why he was so fat and what we fed him. Then asked if the vet had said anything about it to us and was shocked when I said no. I think Tanner weighed 32 lbs on that visit, and if he was to be scored on his weight he would get a 5½. Although alot of people do think Tanner weighs like 20-25 lbs and are shocked when I tell them his weight. Then all of sudden they realize that he's not a small dog, he just has short legs (he's part corgi)
