LabLady101 is an unknown quantity at this point
To the best of my knowledge, the American Canine Association is what is termed a "puppy mill" registry meaning they will register anything you pay for (so a lot of puppy mill and backyard breeders use them) and they, therefore, do not offer any "club activities".

Hope that helps and good luck with your Papillon,
Darcy

I'm sorry to tell you this, but the ACA is one of the many dog registries that puppy millers and backyard breeders use to avoid the standards set by the AKC, UKC, and Canada KC. It's probably very unlikely that they put on any shows. It's no surprise that their website is useless, because they use it as a front to take advantage of unsuspecting buyers. They sell you ACA papers because, unfortunately, they want you to believe you're getting a purebred with solid breed lines. All this doesn't mean you're getting a sub-standard dog, but an exhaustive study of the breeder you are purchasing the papillion from is definately in order. I would be suspect of any dog with papers other than the AKC, UKC, and Canada KC...at least here in the U.S.. Even these papers don't guarantee the quality of the dog you would get, but with a detailed review of the breeder, you are more likely to get a dog to standard. I've even seen some quality breeders guaranteeing the genetics of their dogs for over 7 years. You were probably offered only a one year gurantee of health, and only if you have a vet check the dog out within a certain number of days. I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but having rescued a puppy mill dog, I feel it's my obligation to warn you, and to ask you to be cautious. I do hope you've met the sire and dam, and visited their living environment? I do hope you've studied up on the breed, and can recognize what a papillion should be? How did you find this breeder? Also be warned, if you start asking this breeder questions, I'm sure they are well versed in answering suspect questions. If you purchased this pup on a whim, I seriously hope you will reconsider and try to find a way out of purchasing this puppy. Maybe you don't care where the pup comes from...I don't know...but if you're hoping to have a dog "with papers", I'm sorry to report the "papers" are worth nothing more that the paper it's written on. Good luck, I hope everything turns out well...I really do.

i'm sure she's a backyard breeder, she's only 57 years old she told me.
i got it off of www.twincities.com my local newspaper online classifieds.
I've seen pictures of the Sire and the Dam. i was hoping that i would be able to get it in a few shows etc.

my dog is AKC reg. but her breeder was like a puppy mill. when i got her we took her to the vets right away, because the lady lived in the woods in a trailor. everything was in such bad shape. we figured she is breeding them because my dog has EXECELLENT bloodlines.

i've been studing dogs ever since i was in elementry school. i do know a lot. i'll add a picture of her soon in the picture thread.

i've paid 100.00 (well i sent 120.00 to make it a little cheeper for my boyfriend since he's buying her for me.) but the 100.00 is for a deposit for the puppy. since she's not 8 weeks yet (she will be on the 20th) so that was to already to say she is sold.

oh man i couldn't just not buy her anymore. right when i first saw her i fell in LOVE. when my parnets wouldn't let me get her at first i kept on crying. and then my boyfriend said he would buy her for me. it's werid i've never felt this kind of attachment since my 2nd rabbit died that i was VERY VERY close to. and it's been a year and 8 months and i will still cry over her. but i haven't since i knew i was gonna get this puppy.
but yeah i just couldn't tell her i don't want her no more. i'm already planning out ways to train her. how to get her to be a service dog. everything. lol

Well, none of us are going to doubt your care and passion to own this dog, even though we regret how this puppy was purchased. Puppies sometimes make us forget about what's important. I do hope when the time comes again, that you will consider rescuing a dog first, and at the very least do a thourough search of a reputable breeder. I'm sure these people are only breeding puppies because they didn't prepare well for retirement, and they need your money for their future...but this says nothing about your future with your dog. Even AKC breeders can be like this, but with an understanding and research, you can find the best that money can buy. Good luck, I'm sure she can be a wonderful service dog.

i plan on breeding/showing dogs. ever since i was young like i could remember i've always wanted to do that. i would line my dog up like how it's soppose to be, and then walk with her back and forth. it's something that i've always wanted to do. along with training. i LOVE to train dogs.

I've always plan to rescue a dog, i even plan to own a rescue group for abused adn neglected animals. (dogs and farm animals)

Well, your ambition is commendable. If you haven't been to an AKC sponsored dog show or event, I do recommend spending some time talking to handlers and breeders, and ask them for pointers on how to start in the business. And if you have the time, read the thread "want to breed?", posted in the general dog forum by Mach1girl...it's very enlightening, and it will tell you what you should avoid.

Thanks. yeah i've been to one, every year at my State Fair theres a dog show there. the only problem is getting my family go to the state fair, and going in the dog showing place. it's funny my mom and I will go to the farm area ones. but not the dog shows. and it makes me so mad! LOL I haven't decided on a breed i'm going to focus on just yet.
but so far its..

Great Danes,
Papillons,
Greyhounds,
Besinjis,
German Shepards,
Dobermans,
Rotts,
Am. Staff terrier,

i could go on and on. LOL

i already plan to have people sign contracts ones for pets only, and the other is for showing. background checks. just to be sure that the dogs will be going to a good home. even a play date at the soon to be owners house. lol i've been planning. LOL

it this show you are talking about at your state fair is it a akc dog show or 4-H? i am in 4-H and show my dogs though them. normally we have our state dog show at the state fair grounds. the dogs dont have to be purebreds or anything and most of all the trainers we have are pretty good. i do dog obedience, agility, showmanship and four dog team. four dog team is like a drill team for dogs and there handlers. its alot of fun but it is very diffacult. you have to stay in line with the other dogs and kids. congrads on your new puppy. i can see why you want him/her. very adorable.

If you are still in school and under 18, you can still be in 4-H. If you are inder 21 and still inscool, you can show FFA.

Moose only has 2 weeks of training time before the coun ty fair. Hope he can go to state fair!
