The things you do for your dogs....

Delphi is in season, Jon's mom still won't allow her in the basement. She doesn't seem to understand the importance of Delphi and Strauss NOT being together.

Jon and I will be sleeping in the garage for the next 3 weeks.

Srsly.

It's official, I'm crazy and care about my dogs way too much.

I just hope Strauss doesn't start whining. THat might really make Jon's mom irritated.

What is her reason for not allowing a CAGED dog in the house?

Geesh! I feel your pain there. Why won't your mom allow the dog in the house? I can understand the "bloody mess" lol but c'mon you even show and have said how much you care about your dogs right plus you will be watching her like a hawk!

Moon, I'm not at home, I'm at my boyfriend's house (is long story).

Erin...I have no idea.

This people, is what a responsible owner/breeder looks like! Someone that SLEEPS IN A GARAGE to prevent accidents!

Curse my morals and willingness to uphold them!

*smacks forehead*

Wow... I'm sorry. But If I knew there was a female in heat, my dog or not. If I had the control to keep her safe, she'd be under lock and key...

Well... look at the bright side, it's summer not winter...

Good luck...

All I can say is great show of commitment, and have fun >.<

I think dogs smell better than a lot of people I've met.

Re: The things you do for your dogs....

Well, at least a dog isn't in season forever (tho it might feel like it).

If you have air mattresses etc. and since the Garage is AC'd now, it isn't so bad.. or shouldn't be. My gosh.. I have gone camping for two weeks and had it rain the whole time. A garage would have felt like a PALACE when that was going on.. LOL

I pro'ly would have been sleeping out there anyhow if my dogs were forced to live there, but that is me. I have slept in the barn with the horses once in awhile. Can you get the TV/'puter out there?

Good Luck at the Interview today!

Re: The things you do for your dogs....

That's really lame Xeph. What DOES dog smell like? I'm not sure, everyone that comes over to my house always mentions that my house smells very nice...then I show them the 3 dogs that live in it...all it takes is a little extra cleaning, sheesh.

All I know is that this is apparently what being a responsible breeder is...and I haven't even bred anything yet!

Oh for Pete's sake!!!

I just have to add... I totally understand the sleeping in the garage for your dogs sake. I have in the past slept in a stall to be with my horse who just had a baby that was dying. Sleep might not be the right word. I am so stinking terrified of mice I couldn't really even close my eyes but I stayed out there for a few days and nights on constant support duty. That is what being a mom is all about. Hang in there Jackie. This too shall pass.

That's always a plus though, responsibility will be old hat to you by the time you get your first litter down that it won't be a second thought!

I do admire you for your dedication, through your trials and tribulations here recently you've done very well.

Re: The things you do for your dogs....

Thanks We're on day 3 of her season, and she's gone from "nothing down there" to "WTH does she have a tumor?!!?"

It's ridiculous.

Indeed...it's a bit insulting. My dogs do not smell

That said, I always use humor to make myself feel better, so please enjoy the following nonsense on the parts of Delphi and Strauss.

S: Mom says we have to be sep'rated
D: Why she say that?
S: She says I be gettin' the funny feelins for you.
D: The funny feelins?
S: Yeah. Say I go girl crazy or sumthin.
D: That's silly
S: Yeah, is silly. Say...you shore got a purty mouth....
D: o.O!

This has been another episode of Mousterpiece Theatre (Named for Strauss Mouse of course). Please join us next week for our second segment "Why, oh God Why, does this happen to me?" An episode about the dog mother and her undying (obsessive) love of her German Shepherd Dogs.

If I knew their was a female in heat, I'd keep her secluded, and then get the dog spayed.

The chances are that the story will get even longer due to the situation.
