Exclamation Do Dogs suffer anxiety from moving?

Hi, I'm packing my house because we are moving to florida, and my scottie has been suffering what seems to be anxiety from moving. He actually bit me the other day, and he has had his rabies shots, and has no bite wound so we don't believe it was rabies that caused him to bit. His house is in disaray right now and he is super clingy to us. We are sure he knows something is up, but is it axiety?

Absolutely they can suffer anxiety from moving, and every dog is different. Any time you take your dog to a new environment or change his environment you have to bring down your expectations because it will take some time for the dog to adjust. The best thing you can do is minimize the changes to his routine, and maintain your leadership role. Is it possible that you have been so busy that his exercise routine has been neglected? If so, and if possible, do your best to give your dog as much attention as you would normally. But don't over due the attention because you don't want to encourage bad behaviors. I'm sure he will settle once you're all moved in and back on track with his exercise. Good luck!

Hi, we just moved and we were lucky that both dogs did great. Curb Side always has great advice. I was wondering if your dogs are crate trained. If so make sure they have their crates thru out the move as it is their safe haven. The good news is that even if the move is hard, once you get settled I'm sure they will adjust. Be prepared to re-house train some when you get there as new surroundings can throw them off some. It probably wont take long at all, just expect it could be needed. Good luck with the move.
