I know that what WalMart did was illegal and I hope they own up to it, but how can people become more educated about pitbulls. The media has really done the breed an injustice. I feel so bad for them.
If this is a true story the person should report that WalMart to the Feds. They broke federal law. I used to have to take the bus evry night to work and their was a woman that rode 3 or 4 times a week that had a pitbull service dog. The dog was never refused entry and was extremely well-behaved.
Besides reporting them the dog's owner should take the opportunity to educate the people at that WalMart store not only about pits but about the ADA laws. You'd be amazed at how many people are still ignorant about them.
I've had long arguments with people about PB's many times and I don't think I changed any minds. Maybe having more of them out there as service dogs will show people that the breed is not the problem.
Hmmm. I've been Conflict Resolution Officer for two airlines in my career. If this is as reported, it appears that Wal-Mart will get its hand slapped. There is NO breed requirement for a service dog at all. I can't say I'm surprised, though. Wal-Mart is well known for high-turnover of staff and poor training.
